This may be the last vintage for a while. So I picked something special. Although I have owned it for 7 years, I think I have only worn it a couple times.

From reading about these on the web, I found out some cool facts. Elgin called these American made, Railroad Approved watches, "wrist chronometers". They featured hack seconds, a dynamically poised balance, higher tolerances (than regular Elgins) and a dial was made from Armco iron for magnetic shielding. Not sure what movement is in this, I don't think I have opened it...but the 23 Jewel 730A is most likely. These were made from 1960 to 1964. This one is inscribed with a name (and employee number) ...Harry I. Preston, this was most likely his work watch.

Boy Gary, that is just spectacular there sir !!! Very Happy

Yeah, really I am not remembering seeing this beauty to be honest with you. But, definitely will not be
forgetting it now ! bounce Love the dial set-up with the numbers, markings, and hands, but also how the dial
itself is separated with the white space where a chapter ring might often go. Also can't stop looking at the
B.W. Raymond below the Elgin logo, or the incredible case ! ..Can't believe all of the specs either, and how
it's inscribed too like that. What a way to end New Year Old Watches Gary ! Thanks so very very much !!! WRUW Saturday, 4/1/2017 46145
