Anyone recall the RR Carribbean Doxa 750 Sub that came out a few years ago where about 10 dials slipped thru QC into actual customer hands? Now Ball decided to join the hit parade with their interpretation of the capital of Bangladesh by spelling it in a way I've never seen before. It would be cool to have all the cities with an old-school nomenclature so we have Tokio and Peking and Dacca, found on many Pre WWII bezels, but what's disconcerting is that it was first outed almost two months ago and still no word on what the official line. And why periods after Los Angeles but none after New York City? But that's for another time...

Now those CaRRibbean Doxas are doing relatively well on the secondary market, only because Doxa made a conscious move to rectify a clear mistake, but Ball has a habit of sweeping under the rug unflattering press, so we'll see where this goes. I'm currently waiting for someone from Ball USA or a minion to tank the thread or modify it to lessen the blow as the topic being discussed is in a sponsored subforum (which is why I love the smaller chat spaces) so let's see how this plays out. I am hoping Ball takes the prudent and righteous step of replacing the EM II Worldtimers for every owner who wants the correct spelling on the dial. At least they didn't confuse Dhaka with Dakar!

You be the judge - Google is wrong on many fronts but not on this IMO:

Misspelling on this watch or not - you be the judge. Dakha

all the searches I did shows the spelling is wrong on the watch. I thought it might be spelled different in German or even in Bengali but didn't see it.
Some spellings on websites are Dahka but think these are misspellings also.
Even if Dahka is a legitimate way to spell the word it isn't the most popular way to from searches.
Also the forum software will underline Dahka as a misspelled word, but not Dhaka.

Thanks for the kind words Doc but I can't take credit for this, and neither can the OP of this thread on WUS last week really, since it's been a documented issue going back a couple of months already. What's semi-irksome stems from the deafening silence on this issue by Ball corporate. Either admit that it's a mistake or refute what we say with an informed reply, and being reasonable consumers, we can decide whether the 'mistake' is egregious enough to warrant a switching out of the dial or letting it be. For example, the owners of the RR Carribbean Doxas I think are fairly content with their special dials - and it's really not that bad. Same case here. The Dahka misspelling is really not that bad. What's bad is Ball's ostrich-in-the-sand mentality. Personally I'm not looking for a class act like that shown by JC Babin and the whole TAG/Seiko IP thing - which was handled with distinction and honesty in the face of over-zealous marketing, but any gesture of recompense would have been nice by the Ball officers. But it's been weeks since this was outted, not days. Stand behind your products if you're going after the over $1k watch market IMO - Ball up!

OTOH, I have spotted another manufacturing flaw on a Ball of mine that has never been documented yet - makes you kind of wonder about their QC and question the whole 'Accuracy under Adverse Conditions' motto...

Sorry for not realizing that this is an established error on their part. I agree with your analysis of the situation. Ball needs to man up and do something other than ignore it.
