Hey There - me again.

Just trying to make up for unposted 2011 watches to date. Enter the Glycine Lagunare 1000 (non-COSC version). Purchased pre-loved roughly a couple months ago. Always wanted a Glycine in my collection but wanted something not often seen. Stumbled on this photo and was smitten immediately.

Not my pic, but the one that got me. On what I think is the definitive strap color/material for this watch.

Anyway...So the hunt began. Learned that there are 2 versions of this watch on LE COSC and this one (w/color variations). Also discovered that the non-COSC version is very accurate and well within the COSC specs it isn't rated for. Second reason for purchasing was to replace the similar look/fell to my Invicta Sea Vulture 2894-2 with a brand of less stigma and much greater quality/respect.

Pros (for me)

  • +1sec/day without being COSC rated
  • Inner Rotating Bezel - I'm a sucker for these
  • Excellent Lume/Legibility
  • Iridescent Dial w/Repetitive Logo Pattern
  • 46mm Sweet Spot - Wears larger due to inner Bezel
  • Long Arced Lugs - Somewhat Art Deco in form/beveling
  • Dual Signed Screw Down Crowns
  • Bezel Crown Requires Constant Pull Pressure to Turn - Prevents accidental reset while unscrewed

Cons

  • Screw-Tube Lug Bars - Just don't like 'em

My Pics:
Came with a nice rubber strap that I immediately removed cause, well...I'm not crazy about them. Prefer warmer strap colors/materials.

Great looking watch Jeffrey. Once owned a sea Vulture (I also loved the look) and can see why you went for this Glycine. Nice mini review BTW and as always, super pics!

Man oh man Jeffrey, you definitely have been on a tear with adding these exceptional
watches to your collection in 2011 ! cheers This Glycine Lagunare is just extraordinary in every
sense of the word imho. On the outside it looks very modern, but still manages to feel
a little vintage too. It's again one of those watches that has it all, and must be something
special to add to your collection ! Smile Congratulations on picking up your first Glycine.
It really IS EXTRAORDINARY ! ..What honestly makes the watch so good is that you get
an unforgettable outside, AND inside of the watch. The outside does look like the
Sea Vulture, while the inside holds that excellent ETA movement within it. By the way,
it's great that you went with this non COSC version of the Legunare, because you
basically seem to have that accurate a movement with this one here anyway. Very Happy
Getting back to the unforgettable outside of the watch for just a second. It is really
phenomenal how there is this very thin, slim look to the case from an above view, but
then looks very wide from the sides. This genuinely allows you to appreciate the dial
even more because of the lesser amount of steel from that view. At the same time,
you can also appreciate the width of the case on the sides, as well as how the case
extends into those extra long, and cool lugs. The entire look is once again extraordinary
Jeffrey ! ..It's also where the modern, meshes together with the vintage for the
first time too. Even the crown, and pusher have a streamlined look to match the style
of the case, which is both modern, and classic looking. You also have a chapter ring
that brings these themes together as well. For example, that classic triangle marker
is ALWAYS neat to see, but so are the other markers which seem vintage at first,
but then become a little more contemporary with their shapes. later it is the dial that
takes things even further with those SPECTACULAR Glycine logos spreading all
accross the dial. The pattern REALLY grabs your attention with the unique look,
but also reflects the light in a cool way also. Cool I like how it plays off of your nato
strap by the way. Mirroring the look, and reflections like that. Holy COW ! Also
have to mention how extraordinary the hands, and markers look on the dial too.
The hands have a touch of vintage in them with their shape. While the markers
look vintage, but then the triangle shape brings the modern feel in. it's really pretty
outstanding !!! Then again, this is a Glycine, and Glycine seems to know how do
these things. Even the case-back goes the extra mile to impress, just like the case,
dial, movement, along with straps. This watch is EXTRAORDINARY in so many ways
Jeffrey. Congatulations once again, and keep enjoying !

Extraordinary watch, along with pictures !
