PostSubject: Omega Seamaster 300   Fri Sep 16, 2011 9:18 pm

Received this watch yesterday all the way from down under. This is the Watchco Omega Seamaster 300. It is billed as a NOS Omega, but what it really is are a combination of NOS parts, replacement parts for the original, and a restored movement from the same time period.

This is the no date version, has the Omega Cal 552 which is correct for this model. I had the option of getting it with the replacement bracelet or on mesh. I already own an Omega mesh, and because the mesh costs more than the replacement standard bracelet, I went with the mesh. I put it on my old mesh and will likely sell the new one and some time down the road by the standard replacement at a much lower cost.

The watch looks great on the mesh, so I'm in no hurry for the standard bracelet.

The watch is 40mm and 43mm with the crown, so the perfect size. Its from the 60's and one can immediately see the inspiration for the PO. I love the style of the sword hands and they have plenty of lume. The hour markers, tip of the seconds hand, and the 10,20,30,40,50, and triangle on the bezel are also lumed.

The watch has a 60 click coin edged bezel that lines up perfectly... though you can see in some of my pics I didn't line it up right. The bezel doesn't have any play in it and is easy to turn. Signed screw down crown.

The movement again is a restored cal 552. So far after a day and a half or so, it is about +7 on the wrist and on my night stand. This is much much better than I was expecting. I've heard of some guys having to get their regulated before after receiving them. I guess I was prepared for the worst expected the best. Though prior to purchase I did email watchco and asked if I would have to service the watch soon, they said, nope, it's been serviced and regulated, they just don't state that on their ads because they can't offer a guarantee.... Ebay rules I guess.

It was interesting setting the time, I guess I wasn't prepared, only one position out and non-hacking movement. I don't know why I expected different.

Last thing, it has a domed acrylic crystal. I have to say, I'm digging it. I really do like the way it looks. I also understand that they are very easy to polish to remove any scratches. While I was driving today I noticed a shadow being cast on the dial of the watch, at first I thought it was a smudge or something, looked closer and realized there is an etched Omega log smack dab in the middle of the crystal. As a matter of fact you can see it in my wrist shot, because of the angle it's offset from center slight to the upper right.

Anyway, I'm really enjoying it, not sure this will come off my wrist anytime soon. I think I'm done with buying Seamasters. I have the Blue Bond getting serviced right now and own a PO, I'm pretty satisfied.

Azteck, this Seamaster is REALLY something special !!! Very Happy ..The whole vintage
thing by itself is outstanding enough, but then to see that it's an Omega, and one with
such an iconic look too is even more breathtaking. Having everything restored, regulated,
and serviced has to also be very nice because now you don't have to worry about anything,
and can just sit back, and enjoy ! Smile Congratulations on finding such a cool watch Azteck,
it's really FANTASTIC ! ..There genuinely is such a great deal to love about this watch. Not
only do you have a classic vintage watch, but it's one that really seems to have had a BIG
influence on the entire dive watch industry Azteck. I mean just look at the way the dial,
hands, bezel, case, bracelet, everything is done. THAT look can literally be seen in countless
watches, and from countless watch companies over the years. The only difference is that
this watch seems to be an originator of the style, so that is again very special. Just take
the dial alone with it's sporty, classy, no nonsense attitude. It's large white markers seem
to leap right off of the dial surface, while the smaller, thinner hash marks in between keep
everything flowing perfectly. Also enjoying the varying size, along with shapes of the main
markers. The 12, 3, 6, as well as 9 o'clock markers with the numbers next to them is
a neat touch TOO ! Yowza ! Even the hands are outstanding with their huge
sword-like theme happening. It's once again a look that you see in many dive watches
today, and must be amazing to actually have THE source for that style actually on your
wrist ! Honestly, you can look at any part of this watch, and see the past, present, and
even the future of dive watches. The dial by itself is especially beautiful, but it keeps going
from there. Next the bezel stuns you with it's mix of sporty, as well as classy aspects.
The sportiness definitely comes from the great look of the markers, and numbers. Later
it's the ultra smooth black finish on the bezel which catches your eye. That whole piano
black theme is unbelievable sir, and just the whole flatness of the surface is something
to behold also. It really is the whole package no matter where you look ! cyclops The case
is yet another example Azteck ! That combination of the lower section, together with
the top bezel section is EXTRAORDINARY. You can really appreciate all of the steel, as
well as the way it's so carefully connected. Even the thinness of the bottom, and top
levels is exceptional as it once again brings together everything that is classy, along
with sporty. Speaking of classy, and sporty, it really doesn't get ANY nicer than a cool
mesh bracelet !!! This one with the mesh pattern, and Omega clasp is off the charts
right here. Genuinely fits the personality of this watch just right, and makes that
legendary feel of the watch even more prominent. That classic movement, covered
by the beautiful case-back takes things to a whole new level as well. WHAT A WATCH
Azteck !!! Congrats once again, and I know you will be enjoying this one ! Smile

Fantastic watch, along with pictures of it !
