Dear Customer,

Basel 2012

Last Thursday a very successful Basle fair closed. Especially conspicuous was the reconstruction of the complete fair grounds.

There will be more space for the larger watch brands.

But nevertheless the exhibition area will decrease after the reconstruction from 161.000 qm to 145.000 qm. This sounds crazy in view of the costs of 430 Mio. CHF. The result is that the exhibition area for multi-level booths will increase about 45.000 qm to more than 80.000 qm. Consequently the space for smaller companies will decrease and the focus will be more on the larger brands.

For a longer time we are monitoring the situation with mixed feelings.

To compensate also in future the exhibitions costs - at least 20 % price increases are announced - all watch makers will increase their prices, too. We are glad that so far and hopefully also in future we can integrate without problems the exhibition costs in our averting budget. Therefore we don't have to increase our prices at the moment due to extremely rising exhibition costs. It is our target to offer furthermore a very good quality to an excellent price/performance ratio. We think some watch brands can't go further than that. Nevertheless we have to keep the situation under review to make sure that the focus of the press is still directed on us.

With more than 3.000 pressmen Basle is and remains the largest platform of our branch all over the world.

So far we have a good position with our alternative location (our booth is directly on the fair area in the basement of the carnival association of Basle. -)).
We will have to wait and see if the press visits us also in future. It would be no surprise if the Basle fair forbade the press to leave the fair grounds to visit some independent "lone fighters" who organized payable presentations around the fair.

On Thursday is the day: On 8.00 a.m. CET we will start the sale of the first 40 watches, at 8.00 p.m. CET the other 40 watches will be offered for sale. Here you will come to the special edition:

I like the white on black, and that nice Unitas movement.

Problem: I didn't see mention of the case size. Crying or Very sad

Terrific info Mark ! study Sounds like a lot of changes are coming to Basel, as well as for Stowa, and other
brands in the future.

I hope that at some point they add more room for the smaller brands too. That would be cool to
see. Also hope that Stowa's, along with other brands don't have to raise their prices too much if
at all either. In any case, it seems like Stowa is doing just great, and these Special Editition Marine
Originals couldn't be ANY nicer. Wow ! cyclops ..Thanks for this news, and heads-up Mark !

Thanks for the link also.

Tom, was looking around at the other Marine Originals they have, and most seem to be
41mm x 12mm. Not sure if these Special Editions will be the same though. Hope that I
helped you out a little. Smile
