The 10,000 Year Clock

Hey everyone, have you read about this yet?! A clock that will keep time for 10,000 years.
Danny Hillis is the man behind the idea. He has been working on the clock since 1989, and
is now joined by Amazon's founder, and CEO Jeff Bezos to take the project to the next level.
According to Mr. Bezos "It's a special Clock, designed to be a symbol, an icon for long-term
thinking."

The clock is actually being built within a mountain in West Texas, with many different chambers,
and tunnels being constructed. A foot trail to visit the clock even rises about 2,000 feet above
the valley floor. Now after many years of very hard work, the final design of the clock has been
completed, and the building of the full-size clock parts is beginning. A clock that will evidently
tick every 100 years, with the century hand moving every 100 years, and a cuckoo coming out
on the millenium. Five room-sized anniversary chambers help with this: the 1 year, 10 year, 100
year, 1,000 year, and 10,000 year chambers. "The one year anniversary chamber is a special
orerry. In addition to the planets and the eart's moon, it includes the interplanetary probes
launched during the 20th century. The clock will activate and run the orrery once a year on a
pre-determined date at solar noon."
