Tom - what is truly amazing is the amount of functions those crowns do. The upper 'crown' is actually an alarm set when pulled out, and a quick day set when pushed in. The lower crown handles a a few other functions, it winds the mechanical alarm when fully in, at the first stop it sets the alarm time via an internal rotating bezel. at the second stop it adjusts the time and day function. All that incorporated into an automatic movement. The Bell-Matic was ahead of it's time really.

Really is so neat sir  ! WRUW Saturday 2/21/2015 46145  ..Just the way Seiko was evidently able to push the limits with this one, and make it such a
stand out watch was, and IS great. ..Have to admit also, actually didn't know any of the info about this one that you gave
here either. ..You've got that outstanding overall design backed up by equally impressive movement, and functions here
evidently. Cool cool stuff ! Smile
