Hodinkee's new Timex Q Vintage LE Empty
PostSubject: Hodinkee's new Timex Q Vintage LE   Hodinkee's new Timex Q Vintage LE Icon_minitimeThu Oct 27, 2022 1:09 pm

When the original Q Timex was released in 1979 it was one of the first affordable quartz timepieces, and it looked good too. When Timex re-released the Q line in 2019 the world agreed, it still looks dang good. A steel watch, with bracelet, bi-directional bezel, and with some style the Q Timex was an instant hit. It was embraced by first time buyers and serious collectors alike.

For the Q Timex Vintage Hodinkee Limited Edition we took the risk and played around with nearly every element of the watch. The result is a watch that brings some of the best pre-quartz elements of dress watches to the already stylish Q Timex. The famous pie-pan dials of the ‘50s and ‘60s, the outer edge of the watch steps down from the center, adding both depth and dimensionality – and reimagining the popular dress-watch looks of the time. The outer dial also includes substantial applied indexes placed at an upward angle, giving the impression that they are lifting the center of the dial even further upward. Adding to this visual hierarchy is a hatched texture that sits between the indices. The raised center section boasts a radial sunburst finish with a ‘60s crosshair pattern, a touch that’s not commonly seen these days. Divided into four quadrants, the dial is reminiscent of dress watches of this era, but we brought it back to the now and decked it out in our hallmark Hodinkee Grey. As with our first Q Timex collaboration, you will also find a HODINKEE signature directly on the dial. The pressure-fit bi-directional bezel easily slides to where you want it to go. It’s adorned with custom numerals that evoke the atomic age in design, all while tying into the elevated style of the dial.
The bracelet is an expansion style, a type of bracelet that has long been a Timex staple, though this is not your grandpa’s bracelet. This bracelet can be resized with a simple push from the underside of the link, it pops out, then easily pops back into place. The segment in the center of the band has removable links that release from one another simply by pushing on the textured side of the underside of these links. Joining them back together is the same process – just in reverse. You can rest assured that the bracelet is secure and safely locks into place once the links are joined. Oh, and long gone are the days of losing arm hair to your watch strap – pure brilliance.

THE BACKSTORY
Timex, more than any other brand, is not afraid to change things up. Their history is about bringing affordable and accurate watches to market, and often with a bit of flair. It is why so many of us started out with a Timex on the wrist and still find ourselves looking at their new releases.
Two years ago, we introduced the first Hodinkee-designed Q Timex, a memorable quartz watch inspired by the 1979 original. This time we’ve decided to go back even further to uncover the timely aesthetics of pre-quartz era watches. Vintage dress watch elements like a pie-pan dial, cross hair pattern, and expansion bracelet combined with atomic age numerals on the bezel are all brought together. The result is the Q Timex Vintage Hodinkee Limited Edition, a timepiece that reflects an era of getting dressed up and grabbing drinks downtown.

Oh cool Gary, these Q Timexes are off the charts awesome with how they look sir. Surprised
We saw you enjoying your new looker just recently, and now there’s this brand new
Hodinkee model. cyclops And what’s neat is if you really look at the watches, they are
vintage feeling through, and through. To the point where they literally look as if they
are vintage. Very Happy ..I honestly would have a tough time noticing if these were brand new
releases, or vintage, if I didn’t know about these because of you Gary. Idea

So thanks a bunch for the report !!!
