What a great watch history lesson Doc ! It's neat because
many people would not connect a company like Tissot with
plastic movements. However, they were actually way ahead
of their time in using them. Plus they were evidently very
accurate and good examples of engineering and watch
making. Those Astrolons were really cool looking too ! Plastic Mechanical Movement from the early 1970s Icon_smile
I never really knew about this..but it's very interesting how
these ideas would eventually help create Swatch !..It's too
bad that Tissot did not have better marketing for the Astrolons !
If they did..todays watch landscape might look alot different !
Thanks for the info ! Plastic Mechanical Movement from the early 1970s Icon_biggrin

Here is my daughter's Fortis Flipper. She found it for free at a garage sale. The original band and interchangeable bezels are lost. She loves it on the leather it came with. She doesn't want me to fix it up or clean it, she likes the worn look.

Excellent stuff guys..Mike,you can't beat the price and
the watch has a nostalgic feel to it ! I can see how
finding a watch like this could be very intriguing and I
can see how Doc got interested in them too ! Plastic Mechanical Movement from the early 1970s Icon_cheers

BTW, the first Flippers, like my daughter's one, were mechanical.

It would be a cool novelty to have one of those Tissot plastic movements.
