Even though Mrs. B hates Jim Skelton (Praise His Name and Offspring), he DID sell her a watch last night. (Actually he sold ME one, since I bought it for her).
The Android ceramic in brown for about $150. It might be less, but I can't remember. When she said she wanted it, I just said "Sure" and she brought me the laptop to order. I couldn't refuse since she was actually giving me a manicure (her idea, not mine. Never had one before) and I felt guilty (and girly) as hell.
Anyway, so now she has a ceramic incoming. (This is also a good thing because just before Christmas we were looking at a $5,000 (maybe $3000) Cartier ceramic she just "loved" - hint, hint, hint. So I may be off the hook. But I disgress).
I have always avoided the material because it shatters when you drop it.
Any of you folks have any experience with ceramic watches? Also this is the first Android ever to enter the Boscoe household.

Kristie has a ceramic watch...big I. Anyways, when all the hooplah was going on way back when as to whether the color was solid or not, we took one of the extra links to break and see what the inside looked like.

Small pieces like links are pretty darn tough...used a hammer and had to smack the crap out of it a few times to break it...doubtful dropping it would have done much to it.

Bigger pieces like the case maybe a different story. I have used plenty of ceramic rod knife sharpeners, and longer pieces like that will break fairly easy if dropped on a hard surface...ask me how I know Cermaic Watches Icon_biggrin

If I bought ANYTHING from shlopNBC, it would probably be Android!

I respect the brand and the designer a great deal!

I think ceramic works well on women...not sure about men though.

But the again, you are getting a manicure...

my wife bought a blue ceramic Invicta early this year. I sized it and she never wears it but it looks and feels softer in your hands compared to steel. No problem sizing it, no chips made by the tools.

Thanks. Lost a collar on a Seiko about six years ago. Been very careful since.

Have friend who is a ceramics engineer. He points out that the Shuttle is mostly ceramics. There, that should abate any worries about durability Cermaic Watches Icon_tongue

No ceramics here either, but I've always been interested. Let us know how she like it. I agree with Android being probably the best company that Shop sells. When I say best I'm talking progressive designs, good value, and an Owner who is humble and doesn't just try to sell sell sell. Wing has earned my respect from day 1 the way he treats his Customers on line and they way he acts on air. Total class act.

I have a customer that has owned a Rado for years, he told me that he has banged it several times and you would swear it just came out of the display case. I think it's just the Invictas that shatter.
