| Okay, confess guys! How much does "being different," " flying under the radar" and "being uncommon" influence your appreciation or love for a brand? I'll go first. It's a factor for me. Not always a major reason but a significant influence none-the-less. We all like being different in a positive way. That's part of the reason I enjoy wearing Clercs, Bedats, IWCs and Japan-only Seikos. You don't see them everyday like, say, a Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Citizen, Timex etc. It adds to my personal enjoyment that the watches are relatively unique. So I'm guilty! Are you? |

| Yes...I actually prefer the not so common models and brands. But I think a lot of folks here also do and we just so happen to like similar brands and models. | |

| If you have a watch over $200 you are going to be DIFFERENT than probably 90% of the people you come in contact with on a daily basis.
That said, going against the grain is not too much of a concern for me. Does it bother me that Cali has a Seawolf too? Heck no... ____________________________________

| I certainly don't mind being different. The brand is one thing, I would hesitate to buy the same watch as someone else here because I don't want to be seen as a fanboy. People here do influence me but I won't buy a certain brand just because its the new thing. | |

| For me it is more of a chance that I may have a different brand rather than looking for something different on purpose. I usually buy what I am attracted to at the time and it may be what someone else has or not. I admit that I have been influenced by others quite a bit......its part of getting knowledge and understanding, but I am still going to make the final decision based on what I like and will wear for me. | |

No. My main brands are Seiko and Swiss Army - not particularly uncommon I got into Midos because of the Multifort Chrono and the amazing look of the dial and the ABSOLUTELY KILLER DEAL on it at 99%. Got the 2nd Mido (Pulsemeter) from a cousin of the original Chrono owner for a pretty good deal and the 3rd because it was an inexpensive way to experience COSC. |

One of the reasons I shy away from Rolex...although been totally "original" is kind of dificult, I like the hard to find concept, or lesser known brands...love the Japan only models from Seiko , as well as Orient and Citizen |

| Yes I do like being a bit different and unique with my watches ! Some of this also has to do with price though. What I mean is that I enjoy Zodiac because they are well made, well designed watches that are not on everyones wrists. At the same time I get them because they are reasonably priced ! Getting the bigger well known brands is also of HUGE interest to me !!! I see myself buying more known and respected brands as time goes on. For now I'm in THIS phase..But in the future I will probably mix unique and traditional watches into the fold. Hopefully it will possible to do both ! ____________________________________ | |

There's only one reason why I shy away from Rolex...
Now that's funny!! Same for me though. I really do like different stuff, if something is popular I tend shy away. That's why I don't have too many 'icons' of the watch world in my collection. No Monster, no Mako, no Rolex Sub, no Omega Speedy, no Pan (or Homages), they just don't do it for me. ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... | I do not care to have something different or under the radar. It just depends on the watch.

Agree. I won't buy something simply because it is different. |
