| One thing that I have never understood over the years is why people list their watches in the signature on watch forums. I know a member or two have this here at XMT and was wondering why they did it or why other members stopped doing it. The reason that I don't do it is that it is almost like a "thief shopping list". For example: All they have to do is: Buy a cheap watch off of the sales forum from a seller in their state/area. During due diligence get a return address to "double check the seller's credibility"....and boom, they have everything they need. I know that it may seem far fetched, but why risk it? I also realize that you can't go through life rethinking everything, but I would hate to ever read a story on one of these forums that this happened to someone that we "know" got taken! Some people will say that they lock them up in a safe or have security/dogs...but a motivated thief or thieves can get around everything. What do you guys think? | |

| I'm not allowed enough space to list mine! Honestly, just about every one on a watch forum has a few watches and leaves thenselves open to some form of risk when selling or buying a watch. Once a return address is known anyone can go to google map and case the joint from their own house before planning the heist!! Whereabouts in CT. did you say you lived?? |

| I'm not overly worried about theft. My house is almost always occupied, has an active security system. When I put a list of some of my favorites, I felt like maybe I was just showing off. Who has the best list? or I have more expensive watches than you. It's not like I've got a lot to show off but it seemed like a game of oneupmanship. I switched to sometimes just use a photo list like this one below. I feel like that is more natural way to show off some favorites of my collection:

| people list their collections because they feel good about them and they want others to see it and feel good about them also.
Is it smart to do, well I am not sure about that.
Also - who is to say that they are not completely lying all together? Maybe that is not really you in your picture Andrema............

| Anybody want to know where I live, and has a hankering for a treasure trove of Invictas?
No, really, come and take them...I'd get more from the insurance company than I can by selling 'em off... |

- So, Mike...where do you live???
I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I work out of my house so I'm usually home. If you are coming to steal watches you might need some help, so please bring those nasty thieves from the SCAM WARNING story recently posted in the Members Only forum.

I wanted everyone to see my special new signature, but at that moment had nothing new to add, so I restated what I had stated previously as a new statement, lol

Yes, it makes it even easier. No sifting through multiple posts. No coordinating user names. Just BAM all in one place. Simple. |
