| With the current trend of watches with increasing water resistant levels, I thought that I would pass along the story of the ultimate dive watch -- The Rolex Deep Sea Special. This watch was developed back in the 50's and 60's by Rolex to test the limits of dive watches to the furthest extent. This culminated on January 23, 1960 when Jacques Picard made his record breaking dive in the "Bathyscaphe" to the bottom of the Mariana Trench off of the coast of Guam. | there was a big rolex get together last aug 7 with people coming from all around the globe, it was held at fourtane's jewelers in Carmel Ca. and this was one of the watchs rolex loaned them for the show! here is some better pics of the watch http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=83734 |
