. . . time for new set of buds for my I-Pod. The stockers are a joke. The Sony set I have been using are losing their bite . . . . Any one wanna reccomend a make they have been impressed by???
I like a full range, a little heavy on the mids . . . . and very heavy on the bass.

Ron,
The Shure in-ear is the defacto standard. They come in a variety of levels of quality, depending on budget, but ALL are noise-cancelling because they actually "plug" the ears. This also adds immensely to the bass. The high-dollar ones have several drivers and are quite pricey. The basic ones are a million times better than stock. Sennheiser makes 'em too, Audio Technica and even Klipsch do (I think).
All would be a MASSIVE upgrade to the stock ones, or the $10 SONYs.
Literally the dog ate mine, so I'm back to the BOSE over-the-ear 'phones with electronic noise-cancelling. Usually I just plug my iPod into the car or my sound systems at the office and at home...
I saw a couple the other day at a sandwich place, and the dude had full studio style cans attached to his pod, I'm thinking "Guess he doesn't want to hear her talking... but then maybe she doesn't want to talk to him." Really very odd.

The BOSE are quite ubiquitous on airplanes, but otherwise i don't wear them out in public. Good to drown out noise from the kids and the wife sometimes at home I have a pair of the huge KOSS studio jobs and you're right, it'd be ridiculous sitting at a Starbux or jogging . They make your head sweat, too.

I use the Sennheiser CX300 in ears. Lots of Bass and a nice midtone at a decent prise. Or you could try one of these :
