COSC equivalents for Seiko, Citizen, etc?

If I'm not mistaken, COSC is a Swiss certification for accuracy. Is there an equal certification for some of the better oriental brands?

Grand Seiko and some other Seikos come with a certificate that exceeds COSC standards in the #s by a wee bit but more importantly the Seikos do NOT travel back and forth in uncased form from ETA or other maker to the COSC facility and back to the "maker" for casing. At Seiko they are made in the building in which the standards center is also co-located and then taken by hand to the casing area once they meet the standards.

My Seiko didn't come certified, but, man it does keep good time.

Unfortunately, these standards are kept for the Grand Seikos and a few specialty models at the higher end. Seiko does not do this with its Premier or Spirit lines, which I think is a mistake as you can get 2824's that are COSC certified for around $400 which is at their price point for the Spirits and lower than their Priemiers and such.

an actual equivalent certification to COSC, but the Grand Seikos are
just as good if not more accurate ?!

No, there is indeed an equivalent certification. You get an actual certificate with the Grand Seiko that shows the same data as the COSC certificate but to a slightly higher standard as the comparison chart shows.
