| Got this Tag Heuer 4000 quartz in a trade about a month ago and just got around to sizing it. The previous owner had the original stainless bracelet replaced with a two tone one. (Original bracelet included in trade). Also he sent it to Tag for overhaul in 2005 and had caseback, crown, bezel, etc. all replaced (I have all these original parts too!!). Then he pulled the crown out (so battery was not running) and never wore it again. So the watch is fairly mint except some desk diver wear on bracelet..... ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... | Great looking TTT...Two Tone Tag!
The gold looks nice, not overly shiny!
Congrats and enjoy it! ____________________________________ | |

| Nice snag. Like the Logo at 12, not a fan of two-tone, but its a nice example in top shape! |

| What a sharp looking watch Gary ! The two-tone looks AMAZING !!! It's nice how the dial is matte gold. It helps show off all of those great looking markers, as well as hands. I also think that bezel, and logo are unbelievably cool ! Even the case has a neat shape ! It's a GREAT piece sir ! Congrats to you, and..Enjoy ! ____________________________________ | |

| Wow Gary! Very nice Tag. I never understood why people pull the crown and let the watch sit. I would think it is better to remove the battery if the watch isn't going to get any wrist time. | |

| I agree with Alan and doc. Not personally a two-tone fan but I do like how that one is done is subtle finish.
What's the size? | |

What's the size? Looks like about 38mm from 8 to 2, 42mm straight across including the crown (crown only sticks out 1mm anyway) so it is a nice size. Not too small to enjoy wearing it. ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... This is exactly what I think too, the red and green logo that splits when you turn the crown, the classic two tone, the gold mercedes hands...all scream 'classic' Tag Heuer to me. This was obtained to fill a hole in my Tag box, even with all the nice stuff in there....I was missing a vintage Tag. Sure I wanted a classic Heuer automatic chrono or something but this came knocking and jumped in for a song.... . The Tag Box is now complete....... ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... | Thanks Guys!! I found out this is a first generation 4000 series, first appeared in the 1991 catalog, has a slightly bigger dial and no gold around the markers as in the later 4000's. Gold dial like this was rare compared to other colors. I am pretty happy with it so far!! ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... Thanks Ron! Only one of the Sub-collections I have . Here is a photo that shows those particular watches a little better....The last watch to go when I do is the Tag 2000 Series Auto (upper left) it got me into this mess, and it will see me to the end..... ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... | Did the other gentleman get back to you about the original SS bracelet? I am in the market for one. I tried to send a PM but I am new to the forum and got a response that I do not have enough posts to IM. You can IM me or email me at rickbrad@swbell.net . Let me know. Rick |
