Subject: Picked up a summer watch... Sat Apr 24, 2010 12:21 pm
I was looking for a summer watch with a yellow dial and ended up buying a Seiko SKXA35. I got it BNIB for an awesome price...just add a cold one and it is instant summertime! I really am not a fan of the Seiko wave straps, so I immediately switched it over to a vintage rubber waffle that I got from Jake B.
The measurements are as follows:
Diameter: 42 mm (w/o crown), 45 mm (w/crown)
Lug-to-lug: 45.5 mm
Thickness: 12.7 mm
Lug width: 22 mm
The specs are as follows:
Caliber: 7s26B, 21 jewels (7s26B from Oct 2006 onwards)
Caseback type: 7s26-0028
Movement: Automatic, non-hacking
Beat rate: 21,600 bph (6 beats/sec)
Loss/gain: Less than 40 sec/day
Power reserve: About 42 hours
Calendar: Day/date, dual language (Eng/Spanish)
Crown: Screw-in type
Construction: Stainless steel
Crystal: Hardlex glass, flat profile
Bezel: Unidirectional, 120 graduations
W.R. rating: 200m, ISO certified
Luminous material: LumiBrite ---->>>>>> The lume is sick!!!!!
Movement Singapore, cased in China
Some quick and dirty pictures:
That last one was my attempt to get a quick picture of the lume in a lit room...this link has a review of this watch as well as some cool pictures (lume, mods of the watch...etc.). It also has a cool grid that helps you determine where the movement is from as well as where it was cased.

Agree with you about Seiko straps, Mark. I do like the Maratac composite on it now. I'll use the rubber one Noah sent along with "Blue Lightning" when I want a change-up on the Seiko. I like that waffle, as well. looks nice.

Thanks, Ron. The new composite (don't know what all is in it, just NO Kevlar) with the yellow stiching is much softer than the factory rubber.

Yaeh, Trev. Mark will end up wearing it in the winter, too, that yellow will stand out against the snow... white, freshly fallen snow, not yellow snow.

As in the old Frank Zappa song: "Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow!"

Sounds like Zappa, although I didn't listen to him much.

Congrats on your newest acquisition. Don't sell yourself short, you could pull off that watch late Spring-maybe even late Fall.

Dont no one be bad mouthing yeller dials. Yeller dials can worn at any time of the year.
A wise old moderator at another forum once said, "You can never have enough yellow dials."
I wholeheartedly agree!!

AWESOME Mark !!! This Seiko REALLY is a GREAT Summer watch imho. The dial is more than ready for Summer too. I like how deep that dial seems as well. Some amazingly nice hands and markers with this one also. Don't think you could have picked out a better watch or color for time of year sir ! Terrific straps by the way !.. Congrats and of course..Enjoy !
