| SWEET! I'm really stoked. Austin is a beautiful place. Let's hope they put some elevation in the track. That kind of International attention will be tremendous. Let's hope I'm still here in 2012 to see it. Might be in Europe... Not so sure since Greece is so jacked up. Besides that, I have serious reservations living with socialists. I just wish that Americans in general had a taste for things that require more than just 15 seconds of attention span. Goobery red-necks, all of us. | |

As an American our attention is on par with anyone's in the world and ........oh look........what was I saying? |

| I hope the new track will be at least 2.5 miles with elevation changes and high speed sweepers. When Indy built the road course, I did some of the mapping for Ducati using their data acquisition program on the test bed Ducati. The track was small. using the 3d mapping,I loaded it into my program and had an instant video game.I'm planning on using it at deals gap this year, make the video and let others have the chance to drive deals gap in a virtual car or bike. I've already got the system loaded on the bike using the existing sensors.Doing the car is going to cost alot though. To get the full map,I'll need full engine, trans, suspension, brakes, gearing, tires, throttle, ignition. Also,I'll need to install lateral G force to get gps to pick up for total mapping. |

I believe FIA regulations require a track to be 2.5 miles minimum. Sorry, but the infield track and the "backwards" run on the oval are an abomination!!!! Tony George is single handedly responsible for having the most negative effect on American racing in the history of American racing. America has plenty of storied and fabulous race venues that could be brought up to F1 standards . . . . but we never seem to be able maintain the audience. Even our latest entrant into F1 lacked support, Scott Speed. Michael Andretti embarrassed us. Take a look at the new venues in China and Malaysia. For a temporary circuit look at Austrailia. The days of running it Chris Pook style at Long Beach are past . . . . ( it was great while it lasted though!!!) . . . . Sorry for the rant, I love F1 racing, always have. Growing up in a Commonwealth Nation, the names of Jimmy Clark, Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham gave us images of great gentlemen racers . . . . whew. rant off. |

| Good post Wagon.
I can dig NASCAR's oval track stuff for little while but usually just fast forward through to the cautions and the last 10 laps. Let's face it. Other than Taladaga and Indy most tracks are lamo. And on top of that the 1 road course they run is only there so they can complain about how bad it is for oval track cars.
There is one reason people come to NASCAR from other styles. Money. That is one fat goose. | |

| . . . I quit watching NASCAR in the late 80's. When restrictor plates and NBA style marketing came in I went out. I dug the old timers though, . . . Junior Johnson, Cale, King Richard . . . fire suits on, wearing wing tip shoes!!! Get a rules package, build a car, and if you missed and had a dog . . . oh well, next year! Now, they change rules to suit a TV audience . . . lame, very lame. . . . F1 had one of the best finishes in history in Dallas. Mansell comes for the line . . . runs out of fuel . . . gets out and pushes his car in 110 degree heat trying for points!!! . . . Detroit. John Watson in the McClaren out on a flyer goes over a manhole cover . . . and sucks it right up into the undertray of the chassis . . . . . . . . . . the mighty Can-Am cars !!!!! . . . America has had GREAT racing. Me , I think it is currently at an all time low spot. When we get back to guys building and racing for the joy of racing . . . That's what it's all about. . . . |

| Nigel mansel came to the usa and kicked our butts.one of the true racers of his time.Only Nascar and NHRA gets the media coverage anymore. If the IRL had the same press coverage, the sport would be more popular. But when the split happened to CART and it was divided into champ and IRL, only IRL could run at Indy. That pretty much killed open wheel racing. Now they are meging again. You are correct though.Tony George started the indy racing league.Cart refused to join and lost the premier race,Indy. Before the split, CART was only one step lower than F1.We had world champions and events were always sold out. Will it happen again? maybe. I've ran on most of the tracks here and overseas. The usa tracks are sadly lacking. Not enough paddock space, not enough seats for fans,to many restrictive rules also that hinder great racing. |
