Extreme Make Over in Salem, Oregon UPDATE

ABC's Extreme Make Over was back in Oregon today and my wife, daughter and myself went to the openng day. 2 Years ago, they were in Corvalis, Or giving a deserving family a new ho,e. This year they return to Oregon....Salem, However, they are doing a bit of a different schedule this year. Instead of doing a home, they are doing something for the community or an organization, etc. Today, they were at the Oregon School for the Deaf. This is the 140th birthday of the school and what a present they are going to receive. Each year, the school puts on a haunted house on their campus Around Halloween to raise funds and awareness of the school. The extreme make over group is going to build a real haunted house ( with Universal studios) and a new dormitory for the students. It was so exciting to be on site when things unfolded. I took a few pics and my daughter was able to hook up with some of the celebs from the show. Gonna try to catch more of this upcoming week and hope to make it to the finale. The show will air in October.

It was a lot of fun when they were in Raleigh, NC a few years ago. We all went a few times during the week and SO many people came out each day, especially on the reveal day for the house. Cool that you got to go and take some good pics.

They recently built this house a few miles from us. They tore down a 700sq ft house and put up this 4500 sq ft houes. It looks ridiculous in this neighborhood, towering over the neighboring houses.

All the personalities did look like they do on TV. I was a little surprised that Ty was shorter than I thought. On TV he comes across taller. Paige looked real good in person. Michael and Johnny were bigger than I expected.... All were very pleasant and friendly to the crowd and cameras. Ty took off quickly to go on tour of the school with the administrators. Today was the start of the build and it was closed off to the public but it is re-opened tomorrow for everyone. We will try to get back there this week. Looking forward to what this haunted house and dorm will look like. If we get to go to the site I'll take more pics and post them.

The TV personalities don't hang around these projects very long. They are there to film the beginning and end of the shows.

When I went, I heard alot of people wanting to see the celebs but they were nowhere to be found during the actual construction.

Just returned from the site. Celebs have been around all week. In and out. Ty and Johnnie have been traveling back and forth between Salem, OR and Chattanooga,TN. ABC films 2 shows at a time so that is why the celebs are in and out. Ty and Johnnie return tonight and, tomorrow they are filming all day and into the evening.During the day it will be the typical show shoot and reveal and the evening is a special shoot for the Haunted House. A crew from Disney was there yesterday and today to work on special effects for the Haunted house. Unfortunately, it's a work day so, we will not be able to attend. Tomorrow evening's filming of the Haunted House would be very cool to attend. You can dress up in costume and be a part of the shoot. Today was indoor filming of the new boy's dorm. Paige and Michael were involved with that.....Sorry, no picks during filming . No one was allowed to see the Haunted House. Spectators were only allowed in a fenced area. A lot of final touches were taking place such as landscaping and the moving in of furniture. Pretty exciting to be around and see tons of workers and tv crew and personalities. The show is to air on Sunday, October 31st. Will be looking closely for my wife, daughter and myself during the opening since we were right in the pathway of the shoot slapping "high 5's" to the celebs.

to see, and be a part of this John ! ..Watching everything
from beginning to end must be extra fun too ! ..Sounds like

I have not been to their haunted house in 16 years, but will have to this year. This is the coolest thing Salem has ever had.
