| watch movements ? ..We have seen everything from automatics to quartz, and solar to kinetic. What could be next ? ..Maybe an improvement to the existing movements ? Or something entirely new ? Any thoughts or ideas about this ? ____________________________________ | |

| The last significant innovation I can recall, that is used regularly, is the co-axial escapement found in Omega watches. Apart from that, maybe the advancements that TAG has recently tried with the pulley system and replacement of a spinning rotor in the Monaco V4. Also very interesting developments coming from Hublot with the experimental use of ceramic parts in their movts to reduce wear, weight & friction.
All interesting stuff...

| We have already seen it and it releases this month I would say with the Bulova Precisionist and the sweeping NON automatic movement. I would say that this technology could signal the entire end of the tick tick tick quartz movement in the near future if all brands can incorporate this sweeping quartz movement. Youtube video of the movement - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPZPsimxteA | |

It's cool enough to make me consider one... ____________________________________

| AWESOME info Guy ! ..It really IS interesting what these watch companies are coming up with. Seems like from what you are saying Omega, and Tag Heuer are at the forefront of some very innovative movements. Even Hublot with the Ceramic parts idea is pretty incredible !!! WP, just looked up that Pendulum movement you mentioned ! ..It sounds AMAZING as well ! ..Had kind of forgotten all of the details about that one, but now I remember it. Unbelievable that it has no hairspring, and uses magnets instead !!! That technology sounds almost alien ! James, I think you are onto something with that Bulova Precisionist, along with the movement inside it ! I mean that is one SMOOTH quartz, and it's pretty cool that it basically runs like an automatic. Without a doubt we could be seeing other companies starting to use similar technologies in their watches ! ..GREAT video TOO !!! This Bulova is pretty special Alan ! I agree ! ..Definitely worth considering !!! Thanks alot everyone !!! ..Any other innovations that could be next, or maybe something you might like to see in the future ? ____________________________________ | |

| Hey guys, thought I would ask about this ! ..What do you think about a watch movement that is meant to, or can get wet ? This way you would never have to worry about moisture getting inside your watch. Also, how about a new kind of automatic movement that would only need it's rotor to rotate a few times a day to remain fully wound ? ____________________________________ | |

The parts could be made of plastic, or be ceramic, or some coated metal, or totally different type of material ! ..Do you think we might see this at some point ? ____________________________________

I don't know enough about watch making and I am sure Ron or Rick can answer more but if everything could be made out of plastic or some non metal material then yes I think we could see it someday. - smellody wrote:

Thanks for the feedback James ! ..I honestly don't know much about any of this either. Just thinking out loud pretty much with this. Will be interesting if this becomes reality someday. Can't wait to see that first video of a watch movement working in water ! Chris you're on fire there with your idea sir !!! ..Thanks ! ____________________________________
