| still on the road ...found a couple Heuers in a pawn shop, paid $280 for both. Both mid 70's, one is a quartz 'Kentucky', the other an automatic chrono.....a Cortina. Not real sure about what they are worth but the Cortina has been keeping time all day...so I am thinking I MADE A DECENT DEAL. Won't be able to check out the quartz untill I get home. I need a couple links for the bracelets.....anybody want to send me some? ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... Looks like about 38mm...hard to measure since I am not home, both seem bigger due to thickness and odd shape. ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... Member NAWCC, National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors | |

Gonna clean'em up or leave'em looking VINTAGE? Thanks Alan!! I'll clean them up a bit....at least get the 'skank' off from the last owner! I'll see how they look then decide if I need to do further service. ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... | Unbelievable looking watches along with prices for the both of them Gary !!! ..Not sure how you do it, but you found some nice pieces here sir. What's especially unique about these two, is how they are..well..unique ! The case shapes seem to stand out. On the Kentucky, it's round up at the very top, but goes into a straight edge near the bottom. Must have been something Heuer was doing back then, and it's pretty GREAT to be honest. The Cortina has what looks to be an Octagon shaped case, which also is excellent. I like the way both of these watches cases seemlessly flow into the bracelets as well. Not only that, but the bracelets don't look like your average bracelets either. They have a tapered look which which really compliments the styles of the watches. VERY smooth, and VERY elegant all the way around imho. The dials on the both of these keep that theme going. The Kentucky with it's classy thin hands, as well as markers. The Cortina with it's clean white dial, along with black hands, and Roman Numerals ! ..Really is something to see how different watch companies tried so many different things years ago. I think it helps you understand the time the watches came from. Also helps you appreciate them even more because of that. It's the designs, as well as the extra touches like the various screws, and gold Heuer plates. Not to mention the way little details like the pushers look, and how many of them there are. Both of these watches have character Gary, and they have an especially unique theme which seems timeless ! Enjoy these, and congratulations on finding them !!! Great watches..Great pictures ! ____________________________________ | |

| Super detailed pictures Gary !!! Too bad the Kentucky has those problems with it. Could that one possibly be fixed though ? ..Or is it not really worth it ? ..Still neat to see the insides of these, and the Cortina really is pretty stunning with the detailed views of the mechanism. It's like a puzzle of perfection there ! That movement is in EXCELLENT shape ! ..Thanks alot for taking these photos sir ! ____________________________________ | |

| Thanks Tom! The Kentucky can be fixed, but not sure it is something I want bad enough to do the work and spend the $$...I also need a few of the links for the Cortina. What is so cool about the Cortina is there is a micro rotor buried in there.......it is an automatic after all......what a complicated piece of work. This is why the crown is on the wrong side...it had to be to fit the rotor in. See picture: http://chronomaddox.com/heuer/articles/carrera_article/micro-rotor_bridge_full.jpg____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... Hope you find the extra links! I think these both have the same bracelet...so I already have the links if I take them from the Kentucky..... ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... You are very welcome Gary ! ..I see what you are saying about maybe not wanting to mess with the Kentucky ! ..Plus the whole needing links thing with the Cortina too. You never know though, you might just be lucky enough to find them ! ..Want to also thank YOU for the extra information about this watch. That micro rotor is UNBELIEVABLE, and I'm not sure I have even heard of that before either ! ..What a neat diagram here also !!! ____________________________________ | |
