Blacksand Uniformity, and Frederic Jouvenot Helios

With all of the great watches coming out at Basel this year it seems hard to keep
up with everything. Many of them seem to be of the out of this world variety like
these two here..

The Black Sand Uniformity is a new watch with a unique looking curved case, and
dial. It also comes with a COSC certified automatic 35 jewel movement that beats
at 28,800 vib/h, with a five day power reserve. Hands, and markers glow with a blue
tone due to the use of blue emission white Superluminova. It uses a 46mm titanium,
tantulum, pink gold, or ceramic case, and also has vacuum molded numerals, satin
brushed hands. The dial itself is a two dimmensional one, with opaline mainplate,
and satin brushed upper plate. Straps are an interchangeable tech rubber, along

This second watch here is called the Helios from the company Frederic Jouvenot. It is a
limited edition, and part of their Solar Diety collection. Time is told without hands, and
instead uses twelve radio concentric three dimensional rays. They turn both black, as
well as gold according to the time of day. Evidently all of them turn gold at midday.
Gradually turning black one by one as it gets closer to the evening until they are all
black at midnight. The 42 jewel handwound movement beats at 21,600 vib'h with a
45 hour power reserve. It has a 46mm titanium case in either black DLC, brushed, or
polished finishes. The 12 three dimensional sunbeams, along with the central minute
indicator rotating disc help to make up the dial. While the strap is black alligator. Here
