Omega Planet Ocean XL Empty
PostSubject: Omega Planet Ocean XL   Omega Planet Ocean XL Icon_minitimeFri Apr 22, 2011 7:20 pm

Ive had my new p.o. for a couple day's now and thought i would share my thoughts about it. First off the whole design of the p.o. imo is perfect. i like how the case has both brushed and polished sections, the dial is very easy to read with the arabic numbers and markers, the broad arrowed hands are a perfect fit for this watch and the lume is realy good on this watch. I realy like the look of the bracelet i think its my favorite out of all the bracelets ive owned, it is very compfortable on the wrist. however there are a couple cons about the bracelet, one being it has pins instead of screws (not a big deal) two being it does not have any micro adjustments. It does have half links, i got lucky and removed two full sized links and it fits perfectly.Im glad i went with the XL 45.5 instead of the 42mm version, imo it plays a little on the small size for being a 45.5mm case. All in all i am very happy with the omega p.o. here are some specs.

Brand: Omega
Model: Planet Ocean XL
Case Size: 45.5
Case Material: S.S.
Case Finish: Brushed/Polished
Case Back: Solid
Crystal: A.R. Coated Sapphire
Movement: Omega's 2500/ Base ETA 2892-A2
Water Resistence: 600mt/2000ft
Special Features: Helium Release Valve/ Certified Chronometer

Anyone thinking of getting a P.O. have no worries it is one awesome timepiece. thanks Steve

Woohoo Steve !!! What a SENSATIONAL review, and of course watch sir ! Very Happy Think you
are right on with the whole design of this watch. ..Really IS perfect, and actually kind of
majestic in so many ways. Like you mentioned the brushed, along with polished sections
are definitely something to enjoy ! ..Omega could have left the surfaces one way, but
instead decided to show off what the watch actually is, and what they as one of the elite
watch companies are capable of doing. ..You just really get to see what TOP NOTCH
watch making is all about here. cyclops The way the brushing, mixed with polishing helps
to show off the case shape is extremely ingenious. Again, they could have just left the
case one way, but because they didn't you see more shapes, more reflections, and
more detail about the case that Omega gives you with the Planet Ocean. Really have
to appreciate how on the one hand, the case is very prominent, and stands out as
an iconic watch case of today. While on the other hand, those brushed, and polished
sections along with the multiple cut angles make the case more subtle. Seemlessly
fading, or continuing right into the bracelet with ease. It's just TOO GOOD ! Smile ..Then
again it is an Omega, so it's really not a surprise I guess sir ! ..Also no surprise is how
GREAT the dial is as you also mentioned. Genuinely DOES look like a very easy to read
design. You have that iconic marker look where each one has that superb dive watch
marker shape, but also a fluctuating of size back, and fourth between them that helps
set this watch apart from other watches. It's very unique, along with just plain cool
how the 12, 3, 6, and 9 actually have smaller markers at their positions. However,
the way in which you have numbers, along with three of those positions is pretty
PHENOMENAL, and something that you are just not going to see on other watches
out there in the watch world. That arrow shape on the hands that you point out is
simply EPIC as well !!! cheers There truthfully aren't a ton of watches, or watch companies
that you can tell the watch by just lookng at their hands, but this would be one of
them, and you have it Steve ! Just love how from a distance you see this classic,
refined shape, and then as you get closer, and closer in on the hands you discover
the various shapes involved within them. Just seeing the sharp angles inside other
sharp angles, as well as the mixing of diamond shapes, and harpoon-like triangles is
again epic, and part of that majestic feel of the Planet Ocean in my opinion. There
seems to be a real flow to the watch. A combination of everything Omega has
learned over the many many years of watchmaking here with this one. Even the
deep black dial gives this amazing special effect with the markers, numbers, and
hands. Making it feel like a deep "ocean" or abyss ! ..In any case, it's once again,
..TOO GOOD ! Same goes for this bezel with it's modern/vintage style that brings
you back to the best of dive watch bezels past, but also to the future with it's ultra
cool finish, markers, numbering, and coin edge. Also want to just mention that this
case size couldn't be any nicer, or better for you Steve. 45.5mm on this one looks
just right as you said, and the bracelet pulls it ALL together ! What an epic, as well
as majestic looking watch sir. Congratulations, and as always ..I hope you enjoy it !

Epic watch, review, specifications, and photos sir. Thanks !!!

You are right Steve. The design makes the PO play a bit smaller and that is why I chose to stay with the 45.5. I debated for a long time and when I had the 42 on, it seemed too small. Glad you are happy with the watch. One of my all time favs in my collection and I'm sure it will rank up at the top of yours!

Thanks guy's. Tom now thats more like it!! LOL, you nailed it again. You can tell the p.o. from across the room its one of the watches that just stand out. John, like you i went back and fourth over the size, 42mm seems to be perfect for me in most watches but every now and then i want a watch that just has that sheer presence on the wrist (like the seawolf) so i was a little surprised when i saw the 45.5 in person and was very happy i went with it and not the 42mm. Jaw, i almost bought a used chrono version but it had the orange bezzel, the guy had a new black bezzel for it so he was going to send some pics with the blk one on top so i could see how it would look with the orange pushers. but it got sold before he could send the pics. I still think yours is the best look for the p.o. It is one bad ass watch. have you seen the new two eyed chrono coming out at basel? man it is bad!!!! Thanks again guy's Steve

My life will not be complete until I have a P.O. on my wrist.

Well, at least my watch box won't be complete until it has a P.O. in it.

Nice review!
