Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Reveil Globe

I've been looking for this one for a while. I kept my eye on Ebay and watchrecon, the other day I got very lucky and found one on which the bidding ended during the middle of the day in the middle of the week. Perfect auction to keep the sniping down. I was right and got a great deal on a Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Reveil Globe Alarm.

The clasp is a butterfly clasp, sturdy as you would expect from ML.



The movement is the ML06 which is based on the AS 5008 calibre. It has two barrels for automatic winding of the alarm and movement. It is rhodanised, has blued steel screws, Incabloc shock protection, polished steel pallet and escapement wheel. The sapphire crystal back is big and allows for an excellent view of the movement.

The bracelet is stainless steel and 18K rose gold, with a combination of polished and satin finishes. You can see in the pics that 2 links on each side do not have any gold on them. It is a multi-piece bracelet with each link being 5 pieces 2 of which have inlays of gold on the topside.



On a picture below you'll see that that the bracelet is screwed in at the lugs. 4 links on each side are removable for adjustment. Each link is held on by a single sided screw, a lot like my Clerc, making it very easy to re-size. The other links are not removable and have no visible pins holding them together.




The case is the classic ML masterpiece case, 43mm wide and 16mm thick. The case back is screwed down by 5 screws and is 50m water resistant. Has a polished rose gold bezel with satin finished sides. The lugs are combination of satin finish with polished tops. It has 3 signed crowns. The top right hand crown is used to wind the movement, set the main time, 24 hour second time zone, and the date. The bottom right crown is used to wind the Alarm and set it. To set the the alarm you pull the crown out and move the arrow hand to the time you'd like and leave the crown out. The alarm buzzes and can be felt when worn on the wrist, could come in handy as a reminder. Not sure it would wake me up. Still cool. The third crown is in the center of the left side. This one is used to rotate the inner 3rd time zone ring. To operate it you must push in the 3rd crown and rotate, keeps one from accidentally rotating the inner ring.



Has a domed sapphire crystal over the dial. The dial is big and made of solid silver 925 and is very easy to read. 3rd time zone around the edge, main time in the center, and 2nd time zone at 6 o'clock in 24 hour format. The date is between 1 and 2. It has luminous hour, minute, and alarm hands. The Arabic numerals are also luminous on both the main dial and rotating inner ring. The gold markers also have luminous dots above them. My droid sucks at taking pictures of the lume, but it is good.




I've only had it a day and it's about -8s off, not too bad. I know gold isn't for everyone, and at first I thought it was a little too flashy. That feeling wore off quick. I would say now that it's more of a subtle flashiness. A plus is that my wife really likes it. That's always a good thing. It is definitely not a dress watch, but will make for a great casual and daily wear piece. Thanks for looking.

long time here ! Really is a MASTERPIECE ! ..I mean just look at it !!!
It has such a presence about it, and has so many neat characteristics about it
to see, and discover it's amazing. Thanks for giving so much information, along
with specifications, and pictures of it. This watch is gorgeous sir ! Congrats to
you on finally tracking it down ! ..Think what is so neat about this watch is
that the inside, along with outside of the watch are equaly as impressive.
All you have to do is see your pictures of the case-back with that movement,
and read some of the specifications. WOW ! 31 Jewels?!, blued screws?!, two
barrels?!, Incabloc shock protection?!, plus many other things that sound
incredibly impressive also with it. ..Guess this is why it's actually called a
"Masterpiece". Even that clasp you are showing, as well as the bracelet seem
to be on another level. The shape alone on the links is unlike anything else
out there, and that back, and fourth of the polishing, and brushing is out of
this world as well. Same goes for the dueling stainless steel, along with rose
gold finishes. They both add such a unique feel to this ML it's AWESOME ! On
top of that, it seems like the multiple finishes, and polishing help to show off
more of the shapes, as well as details that the bracelet has to offer. It really
IS gorgeous Azteck ! Plus like you are saying it's evidently easy to adjust,
and very comfortable TOO. I like how the bracelet keeps flowing like one piece
from the outside, and attaches to itself by the way also. ..The case is really
something as well with it's own dueling finishes, and details. From the sides
you can genuinely enjoy that especially unique case shape. That brushed
part on the sides helps to reveal just how nicely shaped the case is. While
the lugs continue that look, and take things up yet another notch ! Those
multiple crowns add another element of coolness as well. Each having a
purpose, and each giving your watch more personality. ..Same goes for
the rose gold bezel, and how it contrasts with the stainless steel finish. Or
even the unbelievably NICE dial with it's multiple timezones, rings, numbers,
markings, accents, and hand style ! Honestly, you could end up
getting lost in this dial Azteck. It's so beautiful, and has so many neat, as
well as interesting levels, and details with it. It, just like the watch, is a
Materpiece !!! ..Congratulations, and I hope you REALLY enjoy this one !
