Just won this nice looking Bulova from 1979 (although the original Bulova-signed ETA 2789 automatic is a few years older). Nice
watch. Nice price. Maybe a flipper or maybe a keeper...not sure yet. Very Happy

Classic! Was the movement replaced? Or old stock for this model?

My guess is the movement is original to the watch. According to Ranfft, ETA made this movement from 1969 to 1976, but the rotor engraving is "N9" for 1979. Bulova probably bought a large batch ("close-out" sale?) sometime during the Disco era and put some in this model in 1979. It's not unusual. Oops, did I just quote Tom Jones? affraid

Nice piece! Bulova had a lot of Swiss made stuff in the 1970's not sure how much of it was ETA. You can still pick these up for next to nothing.

Is this something or what Tom?! Holy cow sir !!! Very Happy ..The whole style that this vintage
Bulova has is really captivating. From a distance you can tell right away that the watch
has MORE than enough class. However, there is a also some extra cool, unique things
happening with the case, and also the bracelet. Kind of brings you the best of both worlds
with not only that elegance, but also the stand out, stand alone design of it all. Smile This is
ONE BEAUTIFUL looking Bulova Tom ! Congratulations on the win ! This is definitely a
keeper here imho. ..Genuinely can't look at this vintage watch, and not appreciate the
time it came from, but also the way watches were made. Just can't get over the way
different aspects were done. For example, the case with it's various surprises around
each, and every corner. You can look at it, and see one watch at one second, and then
the next second you see another. It's pretty remarkable ! What really stands out is
all of the thought, along with workmanship that goes, or went into watches like these.
I mean at first you are thinking this is a nice round case, but then at times you see
almost a square case. It's that combination right there that really lets you know that
this Bulova is going to stand alone. At times the case gets thinner, or even thicker.
Then you can also see the rounded edges, or angles from both above, below, AND
from the sides ! ..Those sides by the way, bring a TON of extra character to the watch
as well. The way in which watch companies added in those subtle little differences is
really what made watches so special back then in my opinion. Even the combining of
the different finishes with the brushed, versus the polished portions of the watch are
TERRIFIC. Incoming 1979 Bulova/ETA... 803574 Incoming 1979 Bulova/ETA... 803574 When the finishes, are combined with those amazing angles, and
also curves you get this feel like the watch is, and was ahead of its time. It's not just
the case either that has that classy, almost extra terrestrial way about it either. The
bracelet follows right along with the themes of the case also. Each link has such a
uniquely cool shape as the interlock together. In addition you have that back, and
forth of brushed, and polished finishes it seems which helps continue the look which
is happening with the case. ..Hey, and how about the way the bracelet tapers like
that Tom ! cyclops Yowza !!! THAT could not be more beautiful sir. Then again, beauty
seems to be the main theme with this Bulova here. No where is that more obvious
then with the dial ! Just the way the blue is is incredible by itself. At times it seems
very dark, almost black. Then at times it is lighter, and more vibrant. Either way though,
it shows off those AMAZING raised markers, along with those fantastic looking hands.
Even the silver chapter ring is exceptional as it gives the watch an almost space age
feel. Wow ! In the end this Bulova is a winner in more ways than one Tom. From the
streamlined case, and bracelet, to the beautiful dial, and of course movement. This
Bulova is a real BEAUTY ! Congrats, and ENJOY ! Smile

Beautiful watch, Beautiful photos sir !
