Do you think we might see more watch companies teaming up with eachother in the future?
A lot of times we see all of these different brands both big, and small making so many great
watches. Most of the time it seems like they are in competition with eachother, but what if
some started teaming up to make different watches? Wouldn't that be cool to see? I know
there have been different collaborations within the watch industry in the past. However, to
have a chance to maybe see big, and small watch companies creating entirely new watches
might be really great to see.

So what do you think? Might we see more watch companies teaming up to make some new
watches? Also what companies big, or small would you like to see work together?

Perhaps because of the Swatch debacle!

Most of the industry is owned by 6 or 7 groups right now.....that trend will continue to eat up the small makers when times get hard again.

Dunno...the idea of larger companies getting involved with smaller doesn't appeal to me. IMO the hobby would benefit more from independent original projects that are innovative and new: interesting and original designs that aren't simply "pick & choose" catalog watches.

article worth noting on the largest Chinese watch maker Seagull
http://www.europastar.com/magazine/features/1004084475-sea-gull-s-new-factory.html

teaming up idea? This is being done with many Japanese businesses and foreign companies i.e. car companies like VW and Suzuki.

In the above article, some Swiss companies are buy Seagull parts and modding them abit and assembling their watches! Seagull will have Tissot design/style some trendy modern watches for the youth sectorr!

I see where you are coming from Mark, Gary, and alw, and agree with what you
are saying. Thian, great points also sir, and the article was really interesting to read
as well. ..Thank you !

Just always thought it would be cool if different watch companies teamed up with
one another, and created totally NEW watches.

For example maybe seeing Steinhart working with Christopher Ward, or Sinn working
with Stowa. The list, and collaborations could be endless. However, the watches that
they would create could really be something exciting. ..Plus it would be up to those
watch companies to decide if the watch, or watches they created together would be
a one time thing, or go on, and become a tradition for those brands. Just imagine
some of your favorite brands working together to make a watch.

Maybe it might be a couple of micro brands teaming up, or perhaps any two of the
BIG companies we all know coming together to create something new. Smile
