PostSubject: Rotor Watches   Rotor Watches Icon_minitimeTue Jul 31, 2012 7:04 pm

Here is a new watch company from Germany called Rotor Watches. ..The person
behind the brand is Frank Schiffner, who actually began a mail order watch business
back in 2004 in Munich. With Rotor watches "our goal is to offer a small but fine
selection of mechanical watches at attractive prices." They strive for excellent
customer service, and for the highest quality possible having a close cooperation
with German watchmakers. Allowing the different watch parts like cases, dials,
crowns, and bracelets etc. to all be made in Germany.

There are various different collections from Pilot's watches, and Dive watches, to
Vintage collections. So there is something for everyone. Here are a couple links where
this information, and much more can be found if you would like to check them out...

Not bad looking watches but as they allude to themselves, they seem to be shameless copies of other German watches.

Quoted from the rotor website:
The designs are hardly something off the beaten paths: ROTOR Uhren replicates some of the most significant pieces of German watchmaking History that were developped for the national armed forces. The collections are divided into 3 categories: Flight watches, Classic watches and Diving watches.

The first two watches look like Aristo/Vollmer clones. The third looks like Laco and the fourth like Stowa. These folks may be the German equivalent of Stuhrling Original.

Definitely see what you are saying Mark. I wonder if their watches are actually made by the
same manufacturers that make Aristos, Vollmers, Lacos, or even Stowas possibly.

299Euro is about $370usd....so the basic auto is comparable to Seiko Sumos which are in the $400 range. The models do indeed look generic, as such, but I'm sure the quality and designs are fine.
I have stuck with some older Seikos for that price, such as the Sarb 017 and the 023 diver perpetual, both fine watches and midsized.

Look at this $350.00 Sarb...200m, screwdown crown with the 6R15 movement (auto, handwinding and hacking!)
