Audemars Piguet recently released a new limited edition Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph - The Michael Schumacher Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph. I have included an excerpt of the article as well as two photos of the watch below. There is a write-up on it in WatchTime, with pictures as well as a bunch of information on its functionality. A link to the original article is included below.

Audemars Piguet’s latest limited-edition Royal Oak watch — introduced this week at a press conference in Berlin — is a collaboration with legendary auto racer Michael Schumacher. The seven-time world champion was personally involved with the development of the model, which includes numerous car-inspired design elements.

The Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Michael Schumacher has a 44-mm-diameter case which is available in titanium (1,000 pieces); 18k rose gold (500 pieces) and platinum 950 (pictured below, 100 pieces).

The brand has long been associated with very high-end sports watches, including watches designed for race car drivers, divers, and even a famous golfer and tennis player; this is its first dedicated watch for pilots. Its three-part, 50-mm case, made of titanium, reproduces the materials and visual codes used in the aviation industry. It displays much of the same information provided by the famous E6-B flight computer, invented by U.S. Naval Lieutenant Philip Dalton during the 1930s. This round slide rule, incorporated into the bidirectional rotating bezel, can be used to read off and calculate fuel burn, flight times, ground speed, density altitude or wind correction, as well as the fast conversion of units of measurement.

That is a lot of watch Vito! The kind of watch an affluent mob boss would wear. Alas. . .not a watch for a meager administrative scientist, but definitely something to look at.
