Cleaned up that Orient....black or brown?

Got a chance to clean up the Orient Calendar automatic I picked up the other day...only 20 years old so not really able to post in vintage.
Very clean watch, not sure if I love it enough to invest in a service, maybe it will grow on me, I'll have to decide before I wear it a bunch. It's kinda huge looking at 42mm w/o crown (x46mm) but only a 19mm strap/bracelet. I think the blue makes it!! Here's what it looked like:



Here's what it looks like cleaned up.....do you think it looks better with a black or brown strap? Maybe a bracelet on this one...?

Nice job. I always wonder how the hands get scratches on them. Looks from the 1st pic (pre) that they were like that in the first place. Did someone else try to work on it before you?

If it were me, I would go with the brown...not only for the color, but for the design of the strap.

Who knows? It could have been worked on before, you lean to live with little things like that. I have not attempted to polish hands yet....it can be done, I just need smaller hands!! (mine not the watches....). Setting hands is still something that seems to take a few tries for me so Unless they are horrible or missing I don't mess with them.

Nice job SixtySix. What color shirt are you wearing? Change the strap accordingly... they both look good.

Nicely done! Pretty cool vintage Orient; i'd go with the brown although both look good.

66 - would you consider putting a notched strap on? I think if the strap were a little wider it would look even better...

Just a polish...these acrylic (plastic) crystals are fairly easy to polish...I use motorcycle windshield polish...you can actually use it on the metal too.

A bracelet might really go well on this watch too.
Basically the dial on this watch will make any strap
look terrific !

That is a nice watch. I would try to find some kind of jubalee bracelet or whatever they call them. Or like Randy said maybe a mesh. I like the black in the leather. Now how do you read that bad boy?

Well the big hand is for the minutes and the little hand is for the hours.......Oh you meant the calendar?
I haven't sat down and figured it out yet, I need to figure out what old year is exactly the same as this year for the date and set it to that. I do like the idea of a mesh...
