1976...WHAT A YEAR!

I was a big concert goer in my younger years. Have seen many of the greats....Moody Blues, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Heart, Blue Oyster Cult, Jethro Tull, Aerosmyth, Frank Zappa and the Mothers.....let's just say I've seen quite a few. But one band I have seen at least 8 times was the Rolling Stones. And let me tell you, they only got better as the years went by. Here's a shot of me at Rich Stadium in Buffalo, NY....1976....Rolling Stones concert. On the way in I sliced my foot open on a broken bottle and had to be taken to the emergency room for stitches. Did that stop a diehard Stones fan? NO FREAKIN WAY...got patched up and raced back to the concert. Missed the opening band but didn't miss one note from Keith Richards guitar and Mick Jaggers voice!!! ROCK ON! Can you spot me in the pic below. Damn I was a handsome sucker back then!!!!!

I think you are the one towards the middle with the yellow streak on your shirt.
I saw a lot of the same bands back then too. Add the doobie Brothers and
Chicago!!!

Ah yes, saw them too!!! The last concert I went to was BB King..........OH YEAH!!! That was a couple years ago. The man is definately a LEGEND!!!! And well deserved.

Ever go to a Jake Giles concert......the smoke was SOOOO thick it was hard to see the stage!

Duff, I was a concert goer myself and I can not Freakin believe it but I was also at the 1976 Rich stadium concert!

It was the best concert I had ever attended!!!!!!! Little did I know you and I would turn into watch guys!!

Brother, I was 11 at that time!! Needless to say I wasn't into the concert scene yet but all the bands you listened to including one of favorites, Jehtro Tull, I have listened to for as long as I can remember!! I always thought I was born just a little too late!

Are you shittin me John??? I can't believe you were there!!!! Who the hell was the warm up bands for them. I went to quite a few concerts at Rich Stadium. Small Freakin World! That concert was freakin WHACKED!!! I love the Stones and would go see them again in a heartbeat if they came back to Central Florida! And to answer Mark....yes Mark I did get SATISFACTION via doobs, buds and hot knives! Now, let's see who remembers HOT KNIVES or HOT SPOONS!!!! That's right I'M OLD!!!! Oh and I almost for got, if you look at the people in front of me and either side of me, they are holding glasses of a malty beverage. What you can't see is the Matt's Beer Ball and the Vodka Spiked Watermelon at our feet. Yes, you could bring that stuff into concerts back then...as long as it wasn't glass....like what I laid my foot open on on my way into the concert!

I was 2 years old so I was not there at the time...

I believe there were somewhere in the range of 14000 people at the concert. Rich Stadium was practically full, that includes the field. It may have been more....my mind was somewhat CLOUDED!!! People were camping out in the parking lot the night before the concert...which was normal at Rich Stadium. Every year they would have a day long concert called Spring Fest! We attended a few of those!

. . . 1976??? I was in Europe, Saw The Clash in a night club in London . . . got tatted and shattered!!! Smoked my way around the globe . . .

That's alot of people ! DEFINITELY sounded like an AWESOME concert and experience Duff !

1976 freshman in high school saw tom petty and the heartbreakers and KISS that years ! Got into punk in the 80's and still a very big Social Distortion fan (avatar) and a good friend of mike ness the last 12 years!He always has 4 backstage passes and a visit to the tour bus! Cole foster is a master car and bike builder and has been in every mag, a few biker build-offs is a very good friend of 28 years and his shop is right by my place, thats how a became friends with mike, cole was chopping ther top on his 54 chevy and mike would spend a month up here in the summer time, he is a great guy! also meet kirk hammet from metalica because cole built him a 36 ford that one car of the year last year(check out his site salinasboys.com) also meet billy gibbons, jesse james and billy ray vauhns brother jimmy at coles! back to some other bands , i still check out blue oyster cult every year at the catalyst in santa cruz but my big" day on the green" days are over! social D and BOC is about all i go to anymore! Neil young has a great concert every year to support the bridge school and it's aewsome, iv'e seen everything from green day to the who there, greeat shows! I thought you were the guy in ther cowboy hat, or whatever you want to call it! Hope all you guys werent wearing the shirts for that concert, everyone knows NEVER WEAR THE SHIRT YOU JUST BOUGHT FOR THAT CONCERT, save it for another show so you dont look like a poser!
