Caution on these SLs. I have 2 (non MOP versions)
Links near lugs WILL come undone.
Pin/Sleeve system that works its way loose.
One at SWI for repair now after hitting concrete floor
- Fixing no charge + $10 ship back.
The other I had laser welded to prevent this.

Also very very fine scratches in the tungsten became evident.
Way too fine to notice casually due to the overpowering reflections everywhere else.
But they ARE there.

Are they varying levels of Tungsten?

Would I notice these on Lum-Tec's tungsten?

I've read on the fora (here I think - Sean?) there are varying levels.
Can't speak for Lum-Tec, never owned theirs (would like to).
Doesn't Greg (nhwoods) have one?

Again these are verrrrry fine - you have to hold in the light just right to see them.

Based on Lum-Tec's overall quality, I'd bet their tungsten is better too...

I think I'd take a chance on the SL, because they are doing some fairly neat things with "rock" dials -- don't want tungsten just for the near-"unscratchability" (thanks for the update, Jaw). I especially like the look of the blue lapis and tiger's eye..but waiting until the prices come down below $200...

Exactly why I did.
The reflection contrast is to stark for anyone to see the hairline desk marks.
Still FAR better than SS.

Seems like a really NICE price for Tungsten AND the
CL888 too ! ..Even comes with a winder !!!!

..Really DOES sound like a GREAT deal !

What's so special about Tungsten? what's gonna be next a watch made of Cadmium?
