PostSubject: Hamilton RR dial in SK-Watchparts case   Hamilton RR dial in SK-Watchparts case Icon_minitimeFri Feb 24, 2012 5:14 am

several months ago Tom posted a link to a company supplying watch parts
https://xtrememeantime.forumotion.com/t8255-sk-watch-parts

I've been wanting to get a case for the Hamilton railroad dial that included the minute numbers, you might have remembered the other watch build I did that had this same dial and needed to be resized to fit the Kemmner cases at 42mm.

Until now, none of the parts cases I've seen have been big enough to include these numbers, which I think really adds to the look of this 1980's dial remake of the original pocket watch Hamilton made in the late 1800's.

The case is 47mm with sapphire, no AR coating, solid feel and nicely machined, not the quality of the Kemmner cases but I'm very satisfied. The AR on the 42mm case gives the dail an antique look, more brilliant white on the SK 47mm case without AR.

I did by one of SK's flieger dials to go with the case as an option if the Hamilton dial wouldn't work, the dial looks great but the lume is poor and would give it a 5 out of 10.

The Hamilton dial fit in with the smallest amount of filing the edges to remove the paint

Ron, this is just THE best! Very Happy So glad you were able to find the right sized case, and
fit that dial the way that you wanted. It looks UNBELIEVABLE! Hamilton RR dial in SK-Watchparts case 46145 Seeing those extra
minute numbers on the outer edge of the dial is very cool sir. Genuinely gives you a
whole new appreciation for the watch. Each number brings a little more of that great
classic feel, and the red one's are just TERRIFIC. What a creation Ron! CONGRATS
to you!!! ..One of the things that is so great with this Ron is that now you have
TWO incredible versions of a watch. One at 42mm, and the other at 47mm. One
with minute numbers, and one without. Each similar, but still each having it's very
own personality. Really is neat to see, and it shows just how much fun, and how
many possibilities there are when you can build your own watch like this. Hamilton RR dial in SK-Watchparts case 803574 It's just
fantastic imho. Being able to follow along as you guys think up, search out parts,
and then create what you had imagined is really fun to see. This 47mm size case
for example, and how it allowed you to show off those minute numbers. Not only
does it look great, but now you get the look you had wanted. While still having that
original 42mm masterpiece TOO. Honestly can't get enough of both of them really.
The white dial, along with the style of the numbers, and hands is unforgettable. Then
the cases, as well as movements bring it ALL together! Congratulations on finding,
and putting this new one together Ron. Keep enjoying the both of them!

Unbelievable watches, and pictures!

Very nice Ron. I still search for a Hamilton Pocket watch like the one that fascinated me as a child. The minute markers (Montgomery Dial) are distinctive and necessary for me to satisfy what I remember of that watch. Great job.
