| Hey everyone..did you ever see all the great screen names at XMT for example and wonder how they came about ?..I know I literally had a dozen or more names down on paper before I made a decision. Most of them had to do with Watches, Star Wars or Sports teams that I like ! Do you guys have any stories on how you came up with your screen names ? Have you always had the same screen name or have you had others ?..It's always been a cool part of Watch Forums IMHO ! Thanks ! ____________________________________ | |

| Z-freak was pretty obvious...
Anomaly came from liking how it was used in The Matrix. It seemed a fitting name for a watch forum that I wanted to be different from the others as well... ____________________________________

| My user name is how my name is abbreviated for the network at work. I use it as a default ID because I can remember it. If I'd only known these watch forums were more than a passing interest, I would have come up with something else. | |

| I just combined my name and the company I work for. I use the same handle on other forums... | |

| Smellody- Before that idiot Clinton made me loose interest, I used to collect vintage saxophones from the turn of the last century. Most modern saxophones are in B or E flat and alternate between sopranino and bass. Tenor, the most common saxophone you usually see in the key of B flat. Alto, the other most common saxophone is in the key of E flat, this is the horn that most students learn on. Adolph Sax originally intended saxophones to play in orchestras and designed horns in the keys of F and C (a piano is in the key of C). Before the radio, families of the teens (1910's) and twenties would sit around after dinner and play music. Mom or dad would play the piano. Although cheaper than the records that replaced them, sheet music still had a cost. It was therefore in the interest of economic families to have a horn in the same key as the piano so it could play the melody line. Hundreds of thousands of saxophones in the key of C were produced in the teens and twenties and sold to happy families. The C-Melody horns were sized right between the modern alto and tenor saxophones. The saxophone eventually gave way to radio and guitars in the 1930's. Those 100,000s of C-Melodies ended up spending the next 60 to 70 years of retirement in mom and dad's attic. Ever been in an attic of an old house? That smell gave C-melodies the nick name smellodies.
When E-bay first started I was still interested in saxophones and collecting these stinky old relics. . . smellody was born. I love old silver and gold plated horns. I like to take them apart polish them and make them sparkle. They go from black to shiny with the right amount of elbow grease.

| AWESOME stuff guys !!! This turned out to be just as fun as I thought it might..even better in fact ! It's cool to see and hear things like this. Sometimes you might have an idea of what someones name refers to..but then other times you may not !..I honestly never knew much of this..so Thanks for sharing..it's really VERY intriguing and nice to hear !..For myself I just wanted to implement my name into a word and thought maybe Atomic..like Atomic Time might be good. It was kind of Time related and so I went with it. Otherwise it would have been a Star Wars character or something ! So in any case, thanks again everyone..this was terrific ! ____________________________________ | |

| Syn is short for synthesizer. I have owned more synthesizers in my life than watches. My synthesizer collection is worth 5 or 10 times the value of my watches, although I'm now under 20 of them in my studio. | |

| I started selling watches on the web 7-8 years ago (very low volume) and adopted the name pacifichrono by merging "pacific" (San Diego) with "chrono" (time). I dropped the double cc in the middle for a cleaner look. | |

| Well, since you asked I used to go by thebestMAX. Its still active on a few boards back from the early CompuServe days. There were several variations of Max being used and since my GF always said I was "the best" I just combined the two. Seemed to egotistic to keep using it on watch forums so I shortened it. Where did the Max come from? My real name is Marc or so I thought till I went to get a Passport and needed a birth certificate. On there it says Max. Seems my Mother hated the name and always called me Marc because when the Doctor wrote out the birth form his handwriting looked more like Marc and she liked it. Marc is on everything legal, school records, Degrees, Military records (how did they miss that?) everything. I guess I dont exist which could lead to a cool user name in itself. | |

Quite a story about your name Max/Marc. A couple of questions that comes to mind are; was your mom there when you were named? She gave you a name she didn't like? |

I guess things were quite different then. My Great Grandfathers name was Max and my father wanted me named after him. She went along with it but what happened after that I just dont know. What I do know was by 1st grade I was Marc. I asked her for my original birth certificate many times but she always had an excuse for not producing it. It was lost in a flood while I was in the Air Force so I never thought about it again till I needed a Passport. Ill tell you I was shaken for a few days when I got a copy of the BC from the Court House.
