| Nice job Jake..these watches have an elegant and classy theme going on ! The dials are simple and clean, while the straps are real nice. The white dials with black and brown straps are a good combination. The gold with black is always eye-catching too..Congratulations ! ____________________________________ | |

| I like those 1970 look Chinese watches. Nice Find. I need to talk to Ron and add a nice simple, quality Chinese Manual wind to my collection. A buddy of mine went to China and I asked him to pick me up an authentic Chinese watch and he got me this, for $2 USD...the waving Mao watch. For $2 it has a 17 Jewel Movt, with waving arm complication, lumed hands, and it's sexy!! ____________________________________ Later, GaryRemember we are the caretakers of mechanical art..... Yup--I do know about 'em. They're simple, straight-forward and very dependable (I love mine). They contain a ZSH Chinese "standard movement" that was the mainstay of the Chinese watch industry for decades. - sixtysix wrote:

Well, these straight-forward "NOS" Shanghai ZSH watches are available on EBay for usually around $26 USD delivered from an "electronics" store in China that seems to have a good supply of them. Having said that--and as much as I like these watches, and I do--I'd really suggest looking for a vintage Sea-Gull with the striped ST5 movement, just because they're not as as common a movement and arguably somewhat better built. Mind you, at the prices these beauties are available, I'd really suggest getting both! |

The project started in the late 60s, blueprints finalized in 1971. Watches with this movement were in large scale production by about 1973-74. |
