| Homeowners SHOULD cover them, but you might want to consider looking in to a watch/jewelery rider. | |

| Yep...I have a "jewelry rider" on my homeowners policy. It covers my wife's jewelry & watches as well as my watches. It actually is very reasonable and well worth it!
The problem with not having one is that the jewelry coverage is very limited on a traditional policy and would not even come close to meeting even a very small collection of reasonably priced pieces.
I have the rider as well as an umbrella policy for personal liability...call me paranoid, but I want to makew sure my family and belongings are protected...

| my home owners has a 5k limit on jewelery.pretty sad since that might cover your wedding ring set.I got an appraiser to send me the papers for each watch and fillled them out with photos of each one and a note to locate its current value.Any of the insurance companies that do riders to a policy requires this.If it wasn't done then they would only pay out its used fair market price.leave that to them and that means squat. I sent the papers back to the appraiser who then came to my home, took inventory, matched the numbers then signed each appraisal form.my higher end watches are at the bank.Even those are insured.my premiums are kind of high but it worth it.I had a watch taken last year during a party. My insurance covered it.While its great to display them, I take them down to the safe when guests are here now. |

| I don't have a special rider, but maybe in the near future it might become more useful.
Last year my daughter had her wedding rings stolen. Original price was $6500. Normal homeowners insurance covered the full price, as long as she bought something with appraisal to that value. She bought a used ring for $3500 with appraisal of $8500. The insurance company gave her the $6500.
