| well this is a 1st.I haven't found the answers to this one yet.invicta has that new sanIII 4 part collector set.you know, the 1.4,2.4,3.4,4.4 all are 500m wr watches but one of them has a unitas 6497 in it.I've asked this question on WG with zero replies.very few companies have modified the 6497 to use a screwdown crown. uts has a 500m one.I think panerai has a hand crank dive watch.not sure though. How can they do it?or is the rating bullshit? I know that the 1000m rated venom probably won't pass the 1000m wr test.Heck, I don't think any of their 500m rated watches would pass either. none use a hev system.Very few companies can do a 1000m rated dive watch without some type of hev.back on topic.how can they rate the unitas at 500m?

| Not sure about Invicta...
My Debaufre has a Unitas, not screw down...
My Panerai has the locking crown system but that ISN'T screw down either... ____________________________________

| I've had a cheap MM Radiomir style watch and it had an asian 6497 with screw down crown! Even the real one is only rated at 100 meters! This is the real deal! This is the automatic version! Platinum version for 45 grand! Still 100 meters |

| panerai has one thats 300m with a unitas.uts had the adventureII.Spinner said that he modified the crown to disengage just before it threaded in to the case.its wr rating is 100m but spinner said it was tested to 500m.Those are the only ones that I found.if spinner can't do it with a official rating of 500m,how can invicta claim 500 meters on this watch with a unitas movement? |

Do you REALLY need to ask that? Sorry, but since when have FACT been relevant to the "I" brand? ____________________________________

| My guess is that the CASE is rated to 500m. Its sort of like COSC. Its the movement there that's rated not the entire watch. Given the nature of the Unitas movement and the fact that no one else has been able to do it, another partial truth? |

| doesn't matter if the case is rated to 500m if the crown seal fails at 100m and floods the watch.fortis does divers with 200m wr using push/pull and tag does 300m with the chronotimer using a push/pull. |

| . . . Wow, I am so shocked that your question wasn't answered in a straight forward manner elsewhere . . . |

I know. There were those who were skeptical of the Fortis Push-Pull and tests in one of the watch mags proved that it does indeed work at 200m. My point is that Invicta is famous for saying something, having the normal reading of it proven wrong, and then crawfishing and claiming that was never what they meant. In this case the only thing I can think of is that they will claim its the case that is able to do 500m. |

Yep the good doc is right, they will say the watch with the automatic or quartz movement is rated to 500 meters the unitas was a mistake!!Then they will get the awe shucks its ok Elvis, you cant be right all the time from the invicta army!! |
