Sitting Ducks: Masoli benched for 2010 season, James out for opener

In the span of a few hours today, both of Oregon's best players resigned themselves to their fate as convicts. In the morning, running back LaMichael James -- the Pac-10's Freshman of the Year in 2009 and leading returning rusher this fall -- was sentenced to 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to misdemeanor physical harassment in an altercation with his ex-girlfriend last month. In the same courtroom a few hours later, All-Pac-10 quarterback and likely Heisman candidate Jeremiah Masoli was sentenced to one year's probation and 140 hours community service in exchange for a guilty plea to second-degree burglary at a frat house in late January. Masoli and former Duck receiver Garrett Embry, a little-used reserve who was booted from the team before either of the pair was charged in the burglary, will both owe $5,000 in restitution within 10 days.

Pretty funny...I just interviewed a Football player from UCONN. His resume looked pretty odd. A 3.0 GPA with deans list every Fall...hmmmm, I wonder why he did so well in the fall...maybe he had smart kids taking his exams while he was away

Needless to say...he was pretty slow and had a hard time pulling a complete sentence together

Yeah, it was always fun to watch. Entomology 101 was always a riot. 200+ auditorium and the first 4 rows (about 80 seats) were reserved for "Scholarship" Athletes. Attendance was 50% of the course grade but bringing a canceled ticket from an away game got you credit for 3 classes. An example of the term paper was mounted in the long hall outside the auditorium and ALL the "Scholarship" athletes turned in perfect 100% identical copies of it for full credit. 80 "A"s for them. The Atheletic dept's only gripe was that they could only take the course once for credit. They even blocked the mandatory retirement (due to age) of the professor who taught it for over 5 years.
