Hamilton 505 Electric RR Special

Most of you know I collect Railroad Approved wristwatches. This is a Hamilton 505 Electric RR Special. I just got this back from Rene Rondeau, by all accounts the worlds leading authority on Hamilton Electrics and a master in repair and restoration of same.

I am blown away by how awesome this thing looks, shown here on a genuine lizard strap (I have the original put away). I have owned this watch for a while but it never worked right, so I finally bit the bullet and sent it out to be redone by the master. The 10Kt gold filled case shows no wear and it is pretty much as new. I am so excited to finally get this one working!!
The 505 was first introduced in 1961 and the technology was quickly replaced with newer and better technology. Some photos of the watch....

Looks brand new, he really did a nice job restoring that one. Nice clean classic styling to it, it has a timeless look. How large is it?

It wears large because of the lack of a bezel, but it's only 36mm across (38mm with crown) . Seems large on my wrist...can't believe it is that small!!

Do you have any before pictures for perspective? Or was it only a movement issue?

Very nice watch Gary....Love seeing all of your collection and love hearing the stories behind the watches. I love the white dial and the ease of reading............very necessary for a RR watch!

This one was in nice shape when I got it, but would only run for a few seconds at a time. I do have a before picture but it doesn't look that bad...you can see an obvious difference in case polish, and I had a new crystal installed but kept the old one just in case.
