PostSubject: Carl F. Bucherer - Patravi EvoTec Day/Date and Power Reserve Watches   Carl F. Bucherer - Patravi EvoTec Day/Date and Power Reserve Watches Icon_minitimeSat Jul 31, 2010 2:01 pm

I saw this in my August 2010 WatchTime Magazine and thought that is was awesome!! Here is what I found on the company website:

The Patravi collection includes modern timepieces with sophisticated, but useful mechanical functions and bold designs. The latest techniques for creating fine watches are used in their development and production. Our passion and enthusiasm for our work are reflected in these watch models where the boundaries of technology and creativity in contemporary watchmaking are constantly pushed back. A harmony of traditional and modern design, these are watches for the future.

This is a nice article/review of the Power Reserve version:

Haute Timepieces: Carl F. Bucherer Patravi EvoTec Power Reserve Watch
By Ariel Adams on March 29th, 2010

http://www.hauteliving.com/2010/03/a-modern-man%E2%80%99s-timepiece-carl-f-bucherer-patravi-evotec-powerreserve-watch/

ShareYou can read this article title in two ways, that the Patravi EvoTec PowerReserve is a watch for the modern man, or that it is a modern timepiece, for men. The double meaning is intended because the piece is both. While Carl F. Bucherer produces sober and lasting contemporary designs, the mechanics and brand theory of its watches is anything but “standard fare.” Those who spend some time with a Carl F. Bucherer timepiece tend to agree that the appeal of the watch is clear.

Most of all of Carl F. Bucherer watches have something mechanically unique about them. Often it is a special function or module on the Swiss movement. A short time ago they developed their own in-house caliber called the A1000. The movement impressed the watch world with its visual design, as well as innovations. Instead of the ultra conservative style as seen in most watches with an in-house caliber, the A1000 has plates decorated in homage to modern devices, that unlike a watch, are powered by electricity. I see the A1000 as the watch equivalent of a circuit board design. The A1000 features a very special type of automatic rotor. It sits like a ring around the movement instead of over it. This way you can visually observe the movement through the sapphire caseback window, without having half of it obscured by an automatic rotor. The ring moves on a diamond-like carbon coated plate with maintenance free ceramic ball-bearings. The watch also features a unique shock absorber with small spring arms for the escapement, as well as a system that negates the need for readjusting the watch (for accuracy) after it has been initially adjusted.

For 2010, the A1000 movement grows to the A1002 in this new watch. The movement adds a power reserve indicator to the list of functions, which now sits with the time (with subsidiary seconds dial), big date, and month. Each function is highly easy to read on the larger-than-expected cushion-style dial, which is actually one of the most masculine cushion-style dials and cases available. The Patravi EvoTec PowerReserve case is 43.75 mm wide and 44.5 mm tall. The bezel is coated with vulcanized rubber, while the case is available in either steel or 18-karat rose gold.

Finishing on the watch is impressive, and high-polished diamond-cut hour markers that match the bold, partially skeletonized hands spice up the conservative look of the case. Carl F. Bucherer is a brand propelled by watchmakers and engineers. The lifestyle of the brand is the concept of having a highly functional, top quality, handsome watches. It is the hardworking, long lasting substitute for Europe’s more common fashion avenue wrist strollers. The Strap is soft calfskin leather with a hand folding and locking deployment clasp. Price is $17,500 in steel and $39,500 in 18-karat rose gold.

My favorite Bucherer. (pic borrowed from their site)
A little over a year ago I was at a watch presentation/dinner and Bucherer was showing their new movement with the outside rotor. Very cool.

SUPER smooth watch Mark ! Carl F. Bucherer - Patravi EvoTec Day/Date and Power Reserve Watches Icon_cool ..These watches are pretty INCREDIBLE
imo !..This particular model, perfects the traditional meets modern theme.
Terrific unique movement, use of ceramic ball bearings, (like Eterna) Carl F. Bucherer - Patravi EvoTec Day/Date and Power Reserve Watches Icon_biggrin,
top quality materials inside, and out. The case shape is interesting also !
Not too square, with a rounded twist added. On the one version of the
EvoTec the shape of the case helps show off that AMAZINGLY good
looking power reserve indicator ! The markers are excellent, as are the
skeletonized hands, which not only look cool, but don't cover up the dial
either. Even the strap has an edge to it with the stitching, along with
red/black theme. It's nice, REAL NICE !!!..So are the other two as well
Hobbit, and Tim !..Those hands are GREAT !..Thanks !!!

I like the first one in the original post...

...not a big fan of power reserve indicators!

But big date, day, cool hands...NICE!

Like this one and realize it is way out of my league but do have a question is it rubber with stitching or leather?

Found a couple of beauties last year for the 09 WT event - they brought shit to the event this year IMO.
