Never heard of this brand...

Marvin celebrates its 160th anniversary this year with a new headliner collection blending traditional watchmaking with innovative design. The result is the Malton 160 Series, so named after a special edition timepiece dating back to 1906. Having released a round version of the Malton, Marvin is now releasing a Malton 160 cushion edition.

The Malton 160 is the brainchild of two celebrity creators, namely well-known watchmaker Jean-François Ruchonnet, of Monaco V4 and Cabestan fame, and designer Sebastien Perret, who, with his passion for horology, has infused his talent into every Marvin collection since the company's rebirth in 2007.

Movement is the automatic Swiss ETA caliber Valjoux 7750 with 25 jewels. The Malton 160 cushion also comes in a three hand date version powered by a Swiss automatic Sellita caliber SW200 and two quartz versions as well, a chronograph and a three-hand model.

Hmm..Not sure I have seen this company before either ! ..It's
funny how alot of times you are looking around at all kinds of
different watch brands, and suddenly one pops up like this !
They seem to have a bunch of interesting models at their
website there. I'm also liking this one pictured here, with it's
case-shape, puhers, and crown ! ..REAL NICE dial TOO !

Has a real familiar look!

I'm familiar with the brand through my vintage watch endeavors. Marvin was a very respected Swiss brand with lots of appeal in the mid-20th century, making very attractive dress watches, many in solid gold, like the one below. For some reason they were very popular in the UK, as I run across most Marvins on eBay.uk.

As I understand it, the quartz 'revolution' ( ) resulted in Marvin getting acquired by a conglomerate in the early 1970s. They were spun off in 2002 in a management buy-out and now strives to recapture their past glory. Kinda like Bulova and others, where the brand name is being used but the "chain of evidence" from the past really doesn't exist.
