OK, I got the fever to own a Panerai, problem is that there are a ton of models , series etc and I have no clue what to look for. All i know are some of the styles I like thus far, but even within those styles it seems a million variations/models etc....

Also nervous about not getting a replica etc or some shit like that....Heres a few styles i like so far-

Go to Paneristi.com

They don't allow fakes there!

From my personal experience, get one with a date and second hand...

And remember MOST Stainless Panerais (if not all) are high polished...

a good place here for each model with pictures and specs, done by collection
http://www.paneraisource.com/panerai_categories.shtml

also what the numbers mean on the back
F'ing A, I got the FEVER Articles_ref_graphic

The Following information applied to Vendome Panerai watches only. Shown above is a graphic of the back of a Panerai Luminor Daylight Chrono, with each of the types of numbers shown. Not all casebacks are the same, such as display backs, so the numbers will be in different locations. The photos is shown as a guide only. Interestingly, the actualPanerai reference number (ie. PAM 00250) does not appear anywhere on the case.

Case(?) Number

This number varies from watch to watch and is often duplicated but seems to indicate a particular style of case. Paneristi.com states that this may have to do with the location of manufacture as well.
Serial Number

This is the serial number of the watch, and incriments with production. The newer the watch, the higher the number.
Year Designator

Panerai watches are dated by a letter that appears before the production number. The watch shown in the example above is an 'I' production year, which is approximately 2006. The following are the approximate years of production that the letter indicates:

No Letter - 1997
A - 1998
B - 1999
C - 2000
D - 2001
E - 2002
F - 2003
G - 2004
H - 2005
I - 2006
J - 2007
K - 2008
L - 2009
M - 2010

Production Number

If the watch is from F series or later, this indicates the production number of this particular watch for a designated year. The above example is 354 of 1000, which means that 1000 Black dialed PAM250 Daylight Chronos were produced in that year and this is number 354.

If the watch is from A to E series, then this indicates the production number of all dial and case variations of a particular watch. So if the example was 354 of1000 for an E series base Luminor, it would mean that all base Luminors (White dial, Black dial, PVD, Brushed, Polished, etc) had a total production of1000.

Get the submersible,243 would be a good start! But before you get too friggin Big E on me stop by a couple AD's i'm sure Chicago has them and try them on, the others are going to play alott like all your Anonimo's so go for the diver with a real bezel in 300 or 1000 meters and steel or Titanium! Check out Rons or Mattcantwin's new watch and THIS IS A MUST talk to luke (snowballz), jay (aikiman44) and Adam (craniotes)! They know everything there is to know about the Big P and can stear you into the right piece for you and the best places to purchase them!

All of these look outstanding Eric ! ..The Submersible looks like it's definitely
the sportiest, and most aggressive looking, but the other two are BEYOND
cool also ! Cool Smile ..It's fun seeing all of the different variations that are
offered. Don't think you could go wrong with ANY of those there sir ! F'ing A, I got the FEVER 803574

Here are a few sites that have some different Panerai's. This way you can
look at the various models, and compare info and pricing on some of them
if you like !

Here you go ! I hope this helps you out..

Seems like you have to do a search at exquisitetimepieces to find Panerai watches,
but they do have some new and used ones Eric.
