think the header is all wrong!!

If all they do is tell time we would all have the same watch, for a male that doesnt wear much jewelry its more about who we are and what taste we have in different brands! I know Alan you're all into gaming and i'm sure all those computers play the games just the same, so why build one? Think the only thing that has changed is your interest in the watch world and that's cool but if they just tell time you should put all that high-end stuff up for sale and pocket a bunch of coin! If all they did was tell time i dont think there would be a bunch of forums in countries around the world, sounds more like something someone that wasnt into watches would say! How Xtreme is that?

For me, its about SO much more than just time.

its a hell of lot more to me than just telling the time!! hell if i just wanted the time i would use my cell phone!! i hope i never feel this way, if i do then the last 8-9 years have been a waste of time.

I think you guys are right that watches are more than just time tellers for all of us !
Thinking Alan is basically saying we should "enjoy" the hobby, along with getting the
chance to talk about them with friends. ..Some times people possibly forget about
this part of it, and that's what he wants to avoid I think.

Nope. sounds like someone done and moved on to another hobby! AT always looking for the positive but i just dont see one in that header! I'm cool with the fact Alan is cooling off and on to another adventure but that doesnt mean the rest of us have to go with him. From the generic watch to the words he is tired of the forum (watch) world! Everyone needs a break, ive been there before but never did i feel that everyone should do and feel like i did at the moment! There are guys who love this hobby and no telling what they might be into if it wasnt for watches, sure we fought and battled but learned a whole bunch of shit along the way and reading that header feels like running the white flag up a pole but what do i know! What time is your watch telling you it is at this moment?

Yeah - I know what he's trying to say and there's certainly something to be said for that.

Now...perhaps this thread is headed straight for the Xtreme Zone. But to me this header reflects Alan's most recent personal feelings and conflict about watch collecting, cross-forum vitriol, etc. As such, I don't feel it should be imposed as the unanimous position of the entire XMT membership.

I agree with the rest of you here, that has to be the worst header Alan has ever put up, and that sucks because he has had some pretty cool headers in the past couple of months, especially the ones with all the members watches.

Alan, if all the watches did was tell time, and thats all they meant, then what the hell would we be coming to forums to discuss them so much.
Sorry, but a bad , generic header, that really just dumbs it down as to what these forums are to us watch enthusiasts.

Believe it or not, the banner was kind of a test, to see if you guys were paying attention. As Eric said, been very slow around here lately, I wanted to see if you guys were AWAKE, if the PASSION was still in you guys, if you would get riled up over something other than INVICTA!

I have to say, I am VERY happy with the feedback, shows you guys are still about watches!

YOUR HOBBY was attacked and you responded. No one defended a BRAND, or who sold them, or how much they cost, you guys defended the HOBBY OF WATCH COLLECTING!

THAT is what XMT was founded for and is STILL all about!!!!!!

This site belongs to the MEMBERS not me, if I EVER get that disinterested in watches, I will make sure it is maintained by someone whose heart TICKS for watches!

I've been away for awhile and don't spend the time looking for any new watch like I used to. I'm looking at building another watch for myself and built a watch for my wife for our 25th anniversary that coming up shortly, but being away from it for the most part has been the best thing for me. I love watches and always will, a watch tells the time and thats only a small portion for what I like about it all

This was a COOL topic, along with test also ! ..Kind of felt there was more to it then
just the words seemed to suggest. Now the new banner REALLY supercharges
things, and DEFINITELY points out what this place is all about. Think it's nice to see
that there truly is passion here for watches in ALL of it's forms. Whether people visit
here every day, or once in a while, do or don't buy alot of watches, buy vintage, or
new watches, build or modify their own watches, or just want to learn..it's about
watches, and the people who enjoy them ! In any case, this was pretty GREAT
imho !
