Have you guys heard of this watch company before ? They are called Wei & Friends, a
small independent watch company based in Prague, founded by Martin Weichert. These
watches are called "Watchsculptures" because of their innovative construction, artistic
minimalism, as well as hand made production.
The cases are from Germany, and the ETA 6498 movements are from Switzerland. While
the rest of the watches are made in house at Wei & Friends. Innovations there include:
a unique anti-shock system using a "floating" seating, with flexible ring, metal springs,
and silicon polymer to protect the dial, movement, and hands.
Also the hands are called "Moonhands", and are made with three dimensional pieces of
four different metals. Each is polished, rhodium plated, and blued. With each hand turning
out differently.
The lugs can also adjust to fit 20mm, 22mm, and 24mm strap widths. They also minimize
space between themselves, and the case, and do not stand out from the case, or catch
onto clothing.
There are also two illumination systems used. One has luminescent material within the bezel.
While another system uses a superluminescent material covered ring which reflects light onto
the dial.
The dials are enamelled, using centuries old watch making method of firing the enamel at 800
degrees, and takes 49 steps to complete each dial.
The crown is also positioned for comfort, is ridged, and double sealed.
Right now there are two collections called "Pure", and "Unique".
Here is the website where this information came from, along with some pictures everyone.
..Enjoy !
