Boy oh boy Tom, your mailman must have a lot of vintage Speedmasters just lying
around or something.
Seriously though, this watch is something to behold, and must
feel right at home next to it's siblings. It's really EXTRAORDINARY !
The case, dial,
bracelet..EVERYTHING !!! What's nice about this particular version, is even though
it's similar to the one you just received, it's very different. Just seems like it has a
more aggressive attitude, or edge to it. That's one of the many things that's so nice
about collecting similar watches in a collection. You can appreciate the similarities,
but also can enjoy the differences at the same time. It's pretty extraordinary to
have, appreciate, and also to learn about. Thanks !
Congrats to you on another
great delivery here Tom. ..Have to mention once again how cool it must be to have
various versions of a watch lke this. Just to have the chance to see in person what
a real classic looks like, and feels like, must be an amazing amount of fun all by itself.
Then to have another type of model, movement, or style from a watch company
of any type, but especially Omega must be phenomenal. What is really enjoyable
about this Speedmaster 4.5 is that you get ALL of the bells, and whistles of the
Mark II you showed us the other day, but STILL get a DIFFERENT watch. Think the
real difference comes with the dial ! Again, there is something a little more aggressive
with this one. The way the dial looks, and has the hands positioned in your pictures,
it almost looks as if it is alive, or has a face. Maybe even Darth Vader's !
Just
the way the deep black dial absorbs the light is something to see. At times it even
looks as if it is on it's way to being gray. Especially when you get that cool differing
finish of the tachymeter area being a more piano black. It's pretty spectacular if
you ask me, and shows just how different similar watches can be from eachother.
One of the similarites that is out of this world with this Speedy, and your Mark II,
is the depth of the dial, and how it separates itself from that tachymeter bezel.
Really think THAT is EXCELLENT ! ..Not only does it look great, but it helps to also
then put the rest of the dial front, and center. All of those aggressive looking sub
dials, along with hands, and vibrant markers seem to just leap right from the dial's
surface. At the same time, even though the dial is aggressive, it still has the ability
to flow unbelievably well with the rest of the watch. In fact, the look of the dial
in THIS style of case, and how it is surrounded is THE best. To be honest, it is
the whole watch that flows like this ! The way the case transitions with the dial
into the bracelet is just as impressive, and beautiful to tell the truth. It's all just
EXTRAORDINARY ! Congratulations once again ! I know you're going to enjoy this !
