Man oh man Tom, this one is REALLY extraordinary !
Can't believe the shape that
it is in. Looks like it's brand new from here !
On top of that it really captures the
feel of watches were like 50 or 60 years ago like you pointed out. It's pure class,
but also like a piece of art to imho. You can genuinely appreciate so much about this
Elgin. Everything from the history of Elgin, to all of the neat design features, and of
course quality. You can tell that the quality is just outstanding !!! I mean the finish
looks to be flawless still. Even after so many years. Plus the quality of the workmanship
looks to be top notch with all of the various angles, curves, smoothness of both the
case, and bracelet. Really is EXTRAORDINARY Tom ! Congrats on finding it ! ..One
of the first things you can't help but notice about this one Tom, is the design, and
how it takes you back in time. Every line, angle, and turn gives you something to
enjoy with not only it's look, but also it's quest for perfection. The shape of the
case for example with it's smooth outer section that bows outward is great all
by itself. Then there is that slight indentation right before you get to the crytal,
and dial that shows more of that amazing attention to detail. It genuinely brings
you back, and shows you just how much went into making these watches years
ago. All of the fine detail, and design together with the quality is stunning imho.
Small details like the extra area on the side of the case next to the crown, as
well as other side, help make the watch even more enjoyable. They continue
the classy, elegant theme, while at the same time add unmistakeable timeless
charm. Even the look of things like the thin crown which plays off of the lines
of the case are excellent. So it's the little things, along with the big, that help
make this Elgin so nice. Speaking of the bigger details, those spherical elongated
lugs at the top, and bottom of the case are just amazing too. The way they
once again capture some of that vintage charm of the past is just awesome.
Later the dial continues the vintage journey perfectly with it's gold/copper-like
finish, along with Roman numerals, and markings. You just can't appreciate
enough how nice all of it is. ..In addition the hands, and the way they look is out
of this world too Tom, and that bracelet is a perfect grand finale to what is a
truly an EXTRAORDINARY Elgin.
Congratulations, and as always I hope that
you enjoy !
Extraordinary watch, along with pics !
