New Membership Card - 1st Rolex Empty
PostSubject: New Membership Card - 1st Rolex   New Membership Card - 1st Rolex Icon_minitimeTue Nov 20, 2012 9:28 pm

Hey there,

Finally a member of the Rolex club. It took about 6 months to make up my mind and muster the funds. My decision bounced around the latest models until I narrowed it down to the two I loved the most, the DSSD and the Explorer II 216570. Opted for the latter as an understated everyday watch vs the In-Yo-Face Big Daddy Rolex (later for that one).

Also see this one as a larger cross between the Milgauss and the GMT2 and prefer it's tapered lugs over the new big block style. Very flat, clean and comfortable - fit my ~7.5 wrist perfectly without adjustment. Glidelock bracelet would have been nice but no such luck (my only Con). But the no-tool extra 5mm of the Easylink is nice to have. Interesting they didn't AR the crystal but did AR the cyclops which gives a flash of blue on occasion. It hasn't been 24hrs yet so I'm still absorbing all the small details. As much as I tried to project its gorgeous Steve McQueen 16550 ancestor onto this version, I ultimately accepted it as a completely different watch altogether.

Lot's of great stuff on TRF for this model. Thanks to them for providing the data to help me make my decision. Not a lot of pics yet, just one Q&D (can't stop shaking).

Thanks for watching.

Thanks Guys, feels good.
@andrema: Chose the black for my preferred Milgauss look.
@Tom: Yes, most are unaware of just how much is behind a Rolex dial.
