Subject: Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge Thu Feb 11, 2010 11:10 am
My youngest son Jeremy and I are avid Harley riders. He has been honored with an opportunity to ride in the 7000 mile Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge! He works at a Harley dealership here in Florida and one of his customers decided he wanted to sponsor him in this opportunity of a life time! This is a test of endurance. Him and his motorcycle. No highways, no motels. There are 1000 participants that will start in Key West, FL on June 20th, 2010 and end at the Kenai Penisula in Alaska! Each bike will be equipped with a GPS tracking system and will be monitored every mile of the trip. No deviation off course will be allowed. There is no room for second place in this challenge. The person to reach the final destination in the alloted time will receive $500,000 in Alaskan Gold! Below is a link to the website and a video of 3 of the contestants in this years event. I am so proud of my son for accepting this challenge and pray that he might be the first one to cross the finish line in the alloted time. With any luck I am hoping to ride to Key West with him to see him off. I'm not sure if that will be possible but I'm going to try. Please wish him luck.
Duff, outstanding! You know I'm a two wheeled freak. This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Prepare, prepare, prepare is my advice to him. Read up about past winners. Take precautions for health and to increase stamina. Be safe and inspect your equipment like never before, and on his way home after the victory have him stop in KC and drop me off a gold brick or two! Keep us posted on this.
Thanks everyone! I am so stoked for him! I wish I had the opportunity to do something like that when I was young and single! I really hope I can afford to take a few days off and ride to Key West with him. I'd love to see him off. Him and his brother Jamie are my world.
Duff, that is soo cool! I'm happy for him as that really sounds like it would be a blast doing! The only thing is they have to sleep outside by their bikes. That's ok, unless it's raining! Well, I wish him all the luck in the world!

That's what adds to the challenge Bri. He's really psyched!

Very cool and quite an honor, hope he wins but just finishing something that tough makes you a winner!!
I agree Trev. Just the fact that someone thought he stood a chance of making the trip and offered to sponsor him is an honor but if he is able to complete the 7000 mile trip it will be freakin AWESOME!!! I'm very proud of him for taking on this challenge!
