Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade Empty
PostSubject: Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade   Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade Icon_minitimeFri Dec 31, 2010 10:25 pm

Hey there,

Curiosity got the best of me on this one. Wanted the new tech but didn’t care for the nuts and bolts look of the Champlain or the dial design (some do). Saw the simpler Claremont dial and after reading a couple forum reviews I hit the Amazon 1-Click for next day delivery making this my last watch of the decade and it's a keeper.

Viewing straight on it seems to be a run-of-the-mill department store watch, simple and unobtrusive if not pedestrian in appearance. Only the enthusiast would know of the triple prong high-beat (8x) precision that lurks within. Viewing from more oblique angles shows some complex curves in the case architecture and crystal. So, it’s not your father’s Bulova. I’m a sucker for a curved crystal thanks to the Lupah and Vulcan - and yes I still have a few of both.

Top facing surfaces of case and bracelet are brushed while all else is mirror polished, with the exception of the brushed crown guard. The push-pull crown is signed with the Tuning Fork logo and is machined with a gear-like twist on the edge for grip. The case back is very plain, empty and begging for an engraving. The watch has a decent weight and does NOT wear small at 44.5mm from 8-2.

The dial is a sandwich variation with large square hour cutouts revealing coarsely brushed raised metallic block Arabic numerals over matte gray lower dial. It is textured with fine concentric rings running through the hour markers until the interior chapter ring encircles even finer textured rings towards the center. This inner metallic ring has a brushed finish with thin diamond cut hour marks that catch the light rather nicely.

Hands are long narrow needle sharp tuning forks who’s points are lost in my photos. They possess the only slight luminescence on the dial which is hardly worth mentioning let alone a lume shot.

Bracelet has angled PO style outer links but flatter and modified by mirror polished bevels top and bottom of each link segment. It's very flexible with solid end links and is push-button dual deployed. However, it unfortunately has an occasional squeaky semi-hollow rattle that does detract from quality - course I've heard worse from Canal street knock-offs.

The Precisionist Technology boasts the most accurate watch with a continuously sweeping second hand. It is super smooth and almost appears to be moving too fast, an optical illusion I'm sure. It remains to be seen on New Years Eve 2011 if it remains within the +/- 10sec/year specification.

Happy New Year – and thanks for watching

Welcome to the Precisionist club! Great looking watch. I looked at that model but ended up with the rubberstrap model. Kind of cool to have new technology on once in a while! Enjoy!!

"HOT" Watch Jeffrey! Love the case curvature and at just over 12mm thick it is a "hugger". Haven't seen that model but I'm gonna go looking. Very Nice!

Now THIS is what I'm talking about Jeffery !!!!! cheers Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade 803574 Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade 803574 Honestly the Precisionist has to
be one of the most intriguing watches to come out in a while, and especially in 2010 sir. This
particular version, the Claremont you are showing is just ASTOUNDING ! Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade 46145 The way in which
everything is streamlined so smoothly, and with such detail is amazing imho. Not that the other
Precisionist models aren't cool, but this on e DEFINITELY kicks things up in the smooth, and
classy department ! ..Want to first say, that your unbelievably detailed description of this watch was
extremely enjoyable to read. You basically said everything that could be said, and you REALLY
gave a feel for all that this watch IS. It was FANTASTIC to read !!!! Very Happy ..Want to also say that
this watch looks like a MILLION DOLLARS here ! Can't believe how much effort Bulova put into
these watches. You can look at countless watches throughout the year which range in all different
price ranges. However, some models like this one here, just look like they surpass ALL expectations !
All of the curves you mentioned for instance, genuinely bring this watch alive in my opinion. Whether
it is a view from the top, side, or back, you can just get drawn into the twists, and turns of this
INCREDIBLE watch sir. Think it is the combination of the curved case, and crystal that honestly
makes this one flow together so completely. Again, there are many many watches that come out
each year that might cost more, but literally don't do nearly as good a job in reaching such high a
level as your Claremont Precisionist. Also the look itself stands out, so you are not going to be
getting a watch that looks identical to another watch out there. That part alone is NICE enough
imho, but this Bulova doesn't stop with a SUPER cool case, and crystal. It also brings one of
the most EXTRAORDINARY dials into the mix ! Smile All of the different aspects on the dial work very
well first of all, and the style is just off the charts I think. To be honest, this is the kind of dial
that would be GREAT to see on some beautiful concept watch at Basel. Fortunately for you, and
us, we get to see this one NOW, and nearly in person too, because of your PICS ! cyclops Those rings
you mentioned bring a TON of character to the dial. They are done so perfectly, that you notice
ALL of them as they reflect the light, but they don't take anything from the dial. They alone could
be a centerpiece of the dial, they are that classy, and eye-catching ! ..The main LARGE ring in the
center is yet another EXCELLENT focal point, and it even helps you appreciate the center of the
dial more with those especially unique hands. The whole Tuning Fork theme is really TOO GOOD
there Jeffery. Plus once again, where else are you going to see such a cool feature ?! ..It's only
on this watch, and from this company ! Bulova Precisionist Claremont - My Last of the Decade 933578 By the way, this second hand almost looks like a neat
sword, or saber of some type with the emblem at the end there. Yowza !!! ..Oh, and cut-out
squares which help show off that BEAUTIFUL sandwich dial is off the charts TOO ! ..You have the
dueling colors of gray, and black fighting it out to show you those elegant, yet BOLD numbers.
While the overall look, comes together just right, and again draws you into the fantastic adventure
that genuinely IS this watch ! There isn't one piece, or part of this watch that doesn't make you
say WOW ! From that breathtaking case, and crystal, to the uniquely cool dial. This watch surpasses
all expectations imho. Even the bracelet has the best of both worlds with the brushed, along with
polished surfaces as you pointed out. It's pretty INCREDIBLE ! ..Then again this one does have one
of the MORE incredible movements in it as well ! The accuracy, as well as the smoothness of that
second is TOO GOOD ! ..Perhaps that is the theme here ! cheers This watch is everything you could
hope for a watch to be. It's uniquely cool, it's classy, and it looks better than MANY high end
watches out there ! ..Congratulations to you Jeffery !!! I REALLY hope you enjoy this one sir !

Astounding watch, pics, AND review !

Unique curved case and crystal. I like the clean dial layout, the number style reminds me of something vintage but I can't figure out what right now. It will be interesting to see how accurate it is between now and daylight savings time. The second hand sweep must be pretty smooth. Congrats Jeffrey.

Thank you all.

I'm curious to see what Citizen does with this IP (if anything at all).
Glad I didn't have to spend a fortune to satisfy my curiosity.
A good simple (almost cheap) watch to meet your Boss with.

Tom - You are far too kind and generous with your words. Thank you.

Was at the WS-Mall yesterday...
Macy's only had one.
Kay Jewelers had the largest selection.
