Most of my watches are still quartz, mostly because I liked the watches themselves and they
were affordable. Nevertheless, automatics are VERY appealing to me and I am trying to
move in that direction to experience some variety as well as their quality ! Smile Especially
if I can get one in the price range you mentioned ! That would be great ! cheers I
would like to find a nice entry level Swiss automatic which could keep all my quartz
watches company and hopefully send me in a new direction with watches ! Very Happy It's a
great question or topic !

I'll buy Quartz, Hand Wind, or Automatic. The style and quality of a watch and quality of mechanism rule over mechanism type. My favorite movement type is hand wind.

I like having some quartz in my collection, something to pick up and go when I'm in a hurry. Half my collection is quartz, something quartz in every style. I think quartz is particularly well suited for chronos. It makes sense to me that if I'm timing some event to the 1/10 second that quartz is the better technology. I have more than a dozen quartz chronographs and only 1 automatic chrono (although I used to have 4).

Half my collection is mechanical. I don't see that mix changing any time soon.
